Day 2: Dades Gorge
Marrakech - Dades Gorge. Today we will make our way through striking landscapes to Dades Gorge, an awe-inspiring valley which stretches from the High Atlas Mountains to the Jebel Sarhro range in the south. Spanning some 2090 kilometres across Morocco, Algeria and Tunisia, the Atlas Mountains are an impressive sight to behold and can lay claim to the highest peak in northern Africa, Mount Toubkal. On our way to Dades Gorge we will pass medieval kasbahs – built by the original inhabitants of northern Africa, the Berbers, and stop at a vantage point where we can take in spectacular views of snow-capped peaks while enjoying a cup of sweet minted tea. Morocco's famous Todra Gorge
Day 3: Todra Gorge
Dades Gorge – Todra Gorge. After breakfast we head east and discover the stunning Todra Gorge with its 300m high cliffs towering above us. Created millions of years ago, the striking gorge snakes its way through the rugged mountain range. The final 600m of the Todra Gorge are spectacular as the canyon narrows to a flat stony track as little as 10m wide in places with sheer and smooth rock walls up to 160m high on each side. We will have an early lunch at a village co-operative where hundreds of hand made Berber rugs, kilims and carpets are displayed and offered for sale. Then the afternoon is free to explore the gorge, walk through the Palmerie or if you're feel active, try your hand at rock climbing (dependent upon weather conditions, book/pay locally). Overnight - Todra Gorge (B, L, D)
Trek across the Sahara on a camel
Day 4: Camel trek into the Sahara
Todra Gorge - Erg Chebbi sand dunes. This morning we will cross the mountainous landscapes of Jebel Sarhro, before stopping for lunch and a swim. After we will travel down to the Erg Chebbi sand dunes, the starting point of our adventure into the mighty Sahara Desert. Travelling by camel we will make our way across the dunes, passing wave upon wave of orange dunes that roll out into the distance, with endless patterns of light and shade creating the most spectacular panoramic views. Arriving at our simple Berber camp, we will enjoy dinner and a night under the stars. Overnight - Berber Camp (B, L, D)
The beautiful Saharan desert at sunrise
Day 5: Ouarzazate
Erg Chebbi - Ouarzazate. After a spectacular sunrise over the desert, we will make our way back to our frontier post where there will be time to freshen up before continuing on our adventure. Our next stop will be the verdant Draa Valley, brimming with natural, historical and archaeological wonders. En route we will pass through many small villages, where a lack of modernity makes it appear as if time has stood still. Women are fully veiled while washing their clothes on the riverbanks and the watchful men seem distant, unaccustomed to foreign visitors.

Following the route of 1000 Kasbahs we will continue our journey on to Ouarzazate. Sitting at an altitude of 1160 metres in the middle of a barren plateau, Ouarzazate lies at the cross roads of all routes going north, south, east, and west, making it a key trading post in both ancient and modern times. Today, the area is mostly populated by Berber people, who were constructors of the numerous fortified kasbahs and dwellings for which the region is famous. After hotel check-in enjoy free time for the remainder of the day – consider some much needed rest and relaxation by the pool. Overnight - Ouarzazate (B, L, D)
The famous and beautiful kasbah Ait Benhaddou
Ouarzazate - Ait Benhaddou - Marrakech. This morning there will be the chance to opt for a quad biking excursion, or to visit a famous film studio that produced classic movies such as Lawrence of Arabia, Alexander the Great and The Last Temptation of Christ. Later we will make our way to the nearby fortified city of Ait Benhaddou - built for defence purposes high on a hill with a bubbling steam within it shadows, this stunningly well preserved medieval city is a true highlight of our tour. Famously used as a backdrop in the film 'Gladiator', its beauty is unrivalled by any other fortified village in south Morocco. We will make our way back to Marrakech for the evening. Overnight - Marrakech (B, L, D)
The famous Djemma El Fna in Marrakech
Day 7: Djemaa el Fna
Today is your chance to really get a feel for Marrakech. In the morning a guided tour will take us around the old part of the city. Within the rose-coloured walls of the medina and through a tangle of winding streets and bustling souks, we will arrive at the focal point of the city – Djemaa el Fna, an exuberant gathering and market place. Full of colour, spicy aromas and traders it is best seen in the evening when overflowing with food stalls, dancers, acrobats, fortune tellers, musicians and henna artists. Towering over all this is the iconic Koutoubia mosque, the tallest building in the city and a reminder of the importance of Islam to the lives of the city’s residents. Spend the afternoon at leisure, pamper the family at the local hammam or further explore the city independently. Overnight - Marrakech (B)
Day 8: Marrakech
Saturday. Our touring arrangements come to an end after breakfast and hotel check-out. Spend the morning relaxing or picking up some last minute souvenirs. (B)
