Welcome to Morocco! A country steeped in history and culture. Arrival transfer from Marrakech airport to our hotel. The rest of the day is free, if time permits explore the rambling souk, local sights and Djemaa el Fna (the main square). Overnight Marrakech - Hotel Imlichil in the Hivernage next to the medina.
Today, we drive over the High Atlas mountains and the Tizi N Tichka pass arriving at nearby fortified city of Ait Benhaddou - built for defence purposes high on a hill with a bubbling steam within it shadows, the stunningly well preserved medieval city is a true highlight of our tour.
After passing the town of Ouarzazate, travel onwards along the valley of the Roses to the Gorge du Todra. The gorge is one of the most dramatic sights to be seen anywhere in Morocco. Travelling down to Erg Chebbi sand dunes, the start point of the mighty Sahara Desert. The Erg Chebbi dunes located near the remote frontier town of Merzouga are renowned for their incredible height and size. In parts the vast sand pile reaches skyward to heights of 150 metres! Take a camel ride for sunset to overnight in a desert camp in the Erg Chebbi dunes.
The journey continues from the desert (maybe after an early start to see the sunrise over the dunes) to Nkob and the valley of Draa.
Take the road through the saffron producing centre of Morocco at the foothills of the Siroua mountains and up the famous Tizi N test pass to the mountain village of Ourigane. Overnight Ourigane - Hotel Dar Tassa
The road leads from the High Atlas down to the plains near Marrakech and onwards to the Argan forests near Essaouira.
