Day 1: Marrakech

Welcome to Morocco. Upon arrival in Marrakech where you'll be met at the airport and transferred to Riad Magi. Dinner will be at a nearby recommended local restaurant tonight. For those arriving on a late flight this evening a light supper will be served at Riad Magi.

Day 2: Marrakech

Venture into the medina with a guided tour of the souk, where you can shop, potter, pick up jewellery, pottery, artefacts. You have the afternoon to yourself to lunch or if you wish to swim at a nearby pool then this can be arranged by the manager of the riad. In the late afternoon prepare Tangia – the slow cooked dish of Marrakech, which you’ll then take along to the oven where the locals take their food. Back at the riad watch a couscous and dessert demonstration, until the Tangia returns, for you to savour on the terrace.

Day 3: Marrakech

Today you’ll be taken to the Mellah food market and to visit the spice merchants. Back at the riad prepare a feast of tagines and salads to be eaten for lunch or later that evening, the choice is yours!

Day 4: Marrakech - Ait Bougamez

After breakfast you will depart for the High Atlas. After short drive we turn off south and arrive at the glorious waterfall of the Cascades D‘Ouzoud for lunch. After taking some time to rest and enjoy the magnificent surrounding its time to hit the twisty mountain road past Azilal and reach the heart of the High Atlas – the valley of Ait Bougamez.

Day 5: Ait Bougamez

Today you can take a mule ride to the Dinosaur tracks at the head of the valley, the route winding through the fields of grain and the apple and almond orchards. After a picnic in the hills, return to the Kasbah via different route, stopping for a cup of tea in a berber house.

Day 6: Ait Bougamez

If you're feeling energetic, a walk up to the pass of Tizi ait Imi is well rewarded with views of Jbel Mgoun and the southern peaks of the High Atlas, otherwise it is possible to take a walk around the village. In the afternoon take a walk up to the World heritage site of Sidi Moussa (ancient granary and fortification).

Day 7: Ait Bougamez - Essaouira

Descending from the mountains today, take the route past the lake of Bin Ouidane, where many richer Moroccans go for water sports, and then descend a sheer road down to the Orange farms of Beni mellal. Taking the road back to Marrakech and onwards to Essaouira.

Day 8: Essaouira

Essaouira is a quiet seaside town with a long beach, an interesting little medina with souks and a grand harbour and fortifications. It's the perfect place to relax either on the beach or in a cafe on the square, or just watching the fishing boats coming in and out of the harbour.

Day 9: Essaouira

Enjoy a lazy day at leisure in Essaouira. Perhaps take a camel ride along the beach, try a bit of wind surfing or simply sunbathe! Tonight why not try one of the many tasty restaurants in the medina.

Day 10: Essaouira

Free day at leisure.

Day 11: Essaouira - Marrakech

After a morning in Essaouira, you'll be transferred to Marrakech. Arrive back in time for some last minute souvenir shopping.

Day 12: Marrakech

Free day at leisure.

Day 13: Marrakech

We will transfer you to the airport in time for your departure flight.
