Welcome to Morocco! A arrival transfer from Casablanca, made famous by Humphrey Bogart in the film “Casablanca”. Airport to our hotel is included. This afternoon, we visit the stunning Hassan II mosque, which has the tallest minaret and the third largest mosque in the world, it can hold 25,000 worshippers at any one time.
Departing this morning, we arrive at Rabat. We will spend the morning in Morocco’s capital city Rabat to visit Oudaia Kasbah, Hassan tower, the Royal Palace and Chellah before continuing to embark on a tour of the Roman ruins at Volubilis, the largest ancient site of Morocco. UNESCO-listed, the site dates back to AD40 and once ruled the entire Roman province of Mauritania. After our tour of the ruins at Volubilis we drive onto Fes. Fes is the oldest and largest medieval city in the world, and its medina is a heady mix of aromas, sounds and sights.
Morning guided tour of Fes to see the souks and the palaces around the medina of the city. Your afternoon is free to explore further. To navigate, follow one of the five, themed tourist circuits.
Departing over the Middle Atlas and through the cedar forests, across the plains of Midelt to the High Atlas passes and the Gorge du Ziz to the sahara dunes. Auberge at the foot of Erg Chebbi dune- Auberge Les Portes du Desert.
Perhaps an early start to take a look at the sunrise over the dunes before breakfast and then carry on to the Gorge of Todra and a short walk to see the stunning gorges before heading off to dades and a visit to the Kasbah Amerdhil in the Skoura palmeries.
Departing Ouarzazate, we visit the Ait ben haddou Kasbah - a world heritage site before setting off over the High Atlas pass of Tizi N Tichka. A chance to see the Place of the Glaoui in the centre of the mountains at Telouet before carrying onto the plains and Marrakech.
Morning guided tour of the souks and madrassa, museums and palaces of the city’s UNESCO-listed medina & Djemaa-el-Fna, an extraordinary gathering and market place. Afternoon to explore further at leisure.
