You will be picked up from your hotel (TBC) Departing early in the morning you drive over the mountain passes of the High Atlas to the ancient fortified Kasbah of Ait Benhaddou, stopping off at the Palace of Glaoui en route. In the afternoon explore Ait Benhaddou – an incredible UNESCO Listed site that has served as the backdrop for many a blockbuster film, such as Laurence of Arabia and Gladiator. Leaving Ait Benhaddou we drive through the Dades Gorge. Upon arrival enjoy the rest of the day at your leisure. Overnight - Dades Gorge
The morning is spent at Dades Gorge where you can choose to partake in a leisurely walk/hike through the simple local villagesand foothills of the gorge or spend the morning at leisure. After lunch we drive onward to Todra Gorge. The gorge is one of the most dramatic sights to be seen anywhere in Morocco. Created millions of years ago, the striking gorge snakes its way through the rugged mountain range. The final 600 m of the Todra gorge are spectacular as the canyon narrows to a flat stony track as little as 10m wide in places with sheer and smooth rock walls up to 160m high on each side. Traveling through the foothills of the Saghro Mountains, passing small villages and dry Hamada desert to the valley of the Draa and the kasbahs in the palmerie to the modern town of Zagora. Here visit potteries – where you can watch craftsmen at work and purchase a souvenir or two – and if time allows explore the Koranic Museum, which contains fascinating ancient copies of the Koran. Hotel Saharan Sky is home to Morocco’s first private observatory, boasting a rich inventory of astronomical equipment. Whether you have experience handling telescopes or are new to star gazing, staff will be at hand to guide you through the solar system. Enjoy an incredible evening of star gazing. Following hotel check-out embark on a camel ride into the nearby dunes where we will spend the night in the desert. Our camp is based at the south end of the dunes giving us a better view of the night sky, where you can star gaze to your heart’s content. This camp is a wonderful place to witness incredible astrological events such as meteor showers.
This morning leave the camp behind and enjoy another camel ride across the dunes before returning to Hotel Saharan Sky for the night. Overnight Hotel Saharan Sky - Zagora
In the morning head back through the Draa Valley to the saffron fields at the base of the High Atlas Mountains. Continue weaving up the mountain to the incredible Tizi n Test Pass, where you can visit the 12th century Tinmel Mosque – one of the few mosques in Morocco open to tourists. Later take a walk to a lake and take in the spectacular views. Spend the night in the centre of the High Atlas Mountains and the Toubkal National Park. Overnight - High Atlas
Today head back to the capital city passing by the Plateau du Kik – a beautiful spot surrounded by vast green fields and rocky outcrops where you can snap a photo or two. Upon arrival in Marrakech enjoy free time for some last minute sightseeing and shopping. Overnight - Marrakech
