Welcome to Morocco and the start of your adventure with On the Go Tours. Upon your arrival at Casablanca's international airport you will be met by our local representative and transferred to your riad for check in and overnight stay. Our local representative will be with you until check in at the hotel and during the drive and arrival at the hotel will give you an overview of what to expect on your private tour and will be able to advise on places to visit in Casablanca on your first night in the city.
This morning visit the stunning Hassan II mosque, which has the tallest minaret and the third largest mosque in the world - it can hold 25,000 worshippers at any one time. Next we transfer you the short distance to Rabat to see the Chellah, Oudaia Kasbah, the Royal Palace and Hassan II tower. After lunch we continue on to the imperial city of Meknes to visit Nejjarin Mosque built in the 10th century, the Dar el Beida palace and the impressive monumental gates. (Total travel time: approx. 3-4 hours).
Heading out of the city this morning, visit the ancient Roman city of Volubilis in the foothills of the Middle Atlas mountains. Incredible mosaics, gates, villas and the forum still remain. In the afternoon, see the town of Moulay Idriss, only open to non Muslims in recent history and named after the founder of Fes. Transfer to Fes for overnight. (Total travel time: approx. 2-3 hours).
Fes is the oldest and largest medieval city in the world and a bustling hive of activity. This morning take a guided tour around the incredible, old medina - a heady mix of aromas, sounds and sights from the tanneries, spice tubs, pottery and donkeys! Enjoy free time in the afternoon to explore independently.
Departing Fes this morning we journey over the Middle Atlas to Midelt passing the Berber villages of Azrou where will stop to see the Barbary Apes, Immouzer kandar and Ifrane. Enjoy the views as the landscapes change. A stop will be made for lunch and the guide will be able to recommend good eating options. (Total travel time: approx. 3-4 hours).
Continuing our journey over the High Atlas mountains today we pass the gorge du Ziz on our way to Merzouga at the edge of the Sahara. Here you'll meet the camel team and enjoy a ride or 4x4 exploration of the dunes. The night will be spent at a desert camp where you'll be dazzled by the star-filled sky.
Leaving the desert we travel along the foothills of the High Atlas through the oasis near Rissani and on to Todra Gorge. This 1000ft gorge is hemmed in on all sides by vertical limestone cliffs and is also called Morocco’s Grand Canyon. After a stop to see the gorge we will continue on the Dades Gorge where the night will be spent. Dinner can be had at the hotel or one of the local cafes along the gorge.
Continue along the Valley of the Roses to the town of Ouarzazate where you will visit the film studios. Afterwards we continue to the Kasbah Ait ben Haddou for a guided visit. (Total travel time: 2-3 hours).
This morning our journey continues over the High Atlas to Morocco's exotic capital city - Marrakech. En route we stop to visit the palace of the Glaoui. Descending into Marrakech later this evening there will be time to visit the Janmna el Fnaa and nearby souks. (Total travel time: 4-5 hours approx.).
This morning enjoy a guided tour of Marrakech, taking in all of the highlights of the Medina (old city centre) - the Koutoubia Mosque, palaces, souks and the old mellah (Jewish quarter), Jamna el Fnaa, palace Bahia, madrassa and the tanneries (if time). The afternoon is free for you to explore Marrakech independently so perhaps visit the peaceful Jardins de Majorelle.
Today marks the end of your adventure with On the Go Tours. The morning is free for further exploration of the city. Hotel check out is generally around 11am though you will be able to store your luggage at the hotel until your afternoon transfer to the airport. Departure transfer will be around 4pm.
