Day 2: Marrakech
This morning we enjoy a guided tour with your town guide of old Marrakech. Set within the rose-coloured walls of the medina and a tangle of winding streets lead to bustling souks, the focal point is the central square, Djemaa el Fna. Towering over all this is the Koutoubia mosque, the tallest building in the city and a reminder of the importance of Islam to the lives of the city’s residents. Spend the afternoon at leisure, pamper yourself at the local hammam or further explore the city your own way. Overnight Riad 72.
Day 3: Marrakech - Gorge du Dades
This morning depart across the plain of haouz and into the rugged High Atlas mountains where you can admire the views en route Ouarzazate and onwards to Gorge du Dades. Overnight - Hotel Tomboctou.
Day 4: Gorge du Dades - Merzouga
We travel along the foothills of the High Atlas to Russani and Merzouga, where we transfer to camels and trek into the Sahara for a night out in the desert at the Berber camp.
Day 5: Merzouga - Ouarzazate
This morning, we watch the sunrise and trek out of the desert - a chance to see the differing colours of the desert with the sunrise. We will head on to Ouarzazate and check into the hotel. Overnight - Le Petit Riad.
Day 6: Ouarzazate - Marrakech
After an early start we transfer over the High Atlas and make our way to Marrakech. On the way we will visit the world heritage site of the Kasbah Ait ben Haddou. You have free time tonight to watch the city transform into the evening in the square Djemaa el Fna, an extraordinary gathering and market place. Full of colour, spicy aromas and traders it is best seen in the evening when overflowing with food stalls, dancers, acrobats, fortune tellers, musicians and henna artists. Overnight Riad 72.
