Welcome to Morocco and the start of your adventure with On the Go Tours. Upon your arrival at the airport in Fes, our local rep will be there to greet you and transfer you to your hotel where the remainder of the day can be spent at leisure.
The oldest and largest Medieval city in the world, Fes is a bustling hive of activity and truly fascinating. Spend the day independently exploring this historic city, the souks, the palaces and the views from the museum and old Kasbah just outside the city walls (no guide provided).
Today you will be transferred to the High Atlas. The journey pasts the Lac Bin el Ouidine, a stunning artificial lake, and continues to the heart of the mountains at Ait Bougamez. Tonight and the next two will be spent in Kasbah Dar Itrane (Imelghas) fashioned after traditional patriarchal homes in the “happy valley”.
Enjoy a guided walk through the villages and orchards and spring blossom to the nearby village of Agouti and return via a different route for even more wonderful vistas of the High Atlas landscape. Lunch will be a picnic affair and the walks in the valley can be as long or short as you prefer - the ones outlined here are about 3-4 hours walking spread over the day.
For your second day in the High Atlas you will trek through the biggest village of the valley, Tabant, and take tea in a berber house before moving onto to Rbat where dinosaur footprints can be found. Head back to Imelghas for overnight.
Departing the High Atlas today we descend to Azilal, a region known as an Arab-Berber melting pot which has influenced its crafts, cuisine and architecture. Continue through the mountains past the crashing cascades of Ouzoud and onwards to Marrakech.
The next two days offer free time for you to explore Marrakech at your leisure. Set against the snowcapped Atlas Mountains, Marrakech has long been a travellers favourite stop-off point. After all, it is situated on ancient caravan routes. Its great pride and landmark, visible from many miles, is the Koutoubia Tower - be sure to pay a visit.
This morning we head off towards the coast and the delightful town of Essaouira, a colourful fishing town situated within 15th century Portuguese fortifications. Hotel check in and the remainder of the day at leisure.
Great beaches and surf beckon here in Essaouira or simply relax on the beach. Alternatively explore the UNESCO-listed medina with its various souks and woodcarving workshops. Any city gate leads to the Medina, so you’re unlikely to get lost and it's perfect for last minute souvenir shopping.
After a leisurely breakfast and morning in Essaouira we transfer you back to Marrakech where you can enjoy one final Moroccan dinner before your flight tomorrow.
Today marks the end of your adventure with On the Go Tours and you will be transferred to the airport in time for your onward departure flight.
