Built by Moulay Ismail, it is now practically a ruin, and next to it is the Great Mosque. Although the medina is small, walk on to the main square and the souks, that sell an array of goods and pop into the tiny hat shop selling beanies and berets. If you head on to the Jewish quarter behind the jewellery souk, you will feel the difference between it and the main Arabic feel of the town.

Today you journey through the Rif mountains to Fes. The Rif mountains are still relatively unexplored by visitors, partly because they are quite remote, and partly because of the hashish that is grown in fields in the hidden valleys. However with your guide and driver, you will be able to relax and see the unspoilt Morocco.

Day 6: Fes

Fes is the oldest and largest medieval city in the world and a bustling hive of activity. Enjoy free time in the afternoon to explore independently.
