Day 4: Casablanca - Fes

En route to the oldest imperial city in Morocco - Fes - we will take a tour of the Roman ruins at Volubilis, the largest ancient site of Morocco. UNESCO-listed, the site dates back to AD40 and once ruled the entire Roman province of Mauritania. The oldest and largest medieval city in the world, Fes is a bustling hive of activity.

Day 6: Fes - Midelt

After an early breakfast you will begin your ascent across the Middle Atlas Mountains. Most of the day will be spent winding your way through the beautiful forests, jagged rock faces, and Berber villages as you cross the Atlas Mountains and begin to descend into Midelt.

Day 7: Midelt - Merzouga

Today we continue over the High Atlas to Merzouga and take a tour of Sahara sand dunes, travelling most of the way by 4X4 vehicle and ending with a one-hour camel ride to the Berber camp, where we spent the night out in the dunes.

Day 8: Merzouga - Tinerhir

Leaving the desert, we travel to Todra Gorge. This 1000ft gorge is hemmed in on all sides by vertical limestone cliffs and is also called Morocco’s Grand Canyon. There’s time to explore the gorge, from its plunging depths to dizzying heights. The charm of Todra lies in it’s changing colours as the sun slowly moves from east to west.

Day 9: Tinerhir - Marrakech

We head out of the Sahara today and head to Marrakech and check you into the hotel. Rest of the day is free. Why not explore the vibrant Djemaa el-Fna square in the evening with the snake charmers, story tellers, food stalls and souks all in full swing.
