Fes is the oldest and largest medieval city in the world and a bustling hive of activity. This morning take a guided tour around the incredible, old medina - a heady mix of aromas, sounds and sights from the tanneries, spice tubs, pottery and donkeys! Today we have a trip over the Middle Atlas to the High Atlas Mountains and the Gorge du Ziz. After the High Atlas, the plain of Errachidia dissolves into the Sahara. Night in Merzouga at the edge of the Sahara (Air conditioned rooms, but it will still be hot at night). Overnight at les Portes du Desert
A short camel ride into the desert to see the sun rise, before breakfast and departing along the foothills of the High Atlas and through the palmeries of Rissani and Todra Gorges. A chance to see the Dades gorge rock formations before heading to the Kasbah Anerdhil in the Skoura palm grove. Overnight at Riad Rose Noire
Just North of Ouarzazate is the Kasbah Ait ben haddou. Visit this for the morning and then climb the winding pass (over 3000m) over the High Atlas and descend to the plain of Marrakech. Overnight at Riad Dar Sohane
