Welcome to Morocco, and the start of your voyage through the land of the berbers! Arrival in Marrakesh airport where you will be met by the On the Go guide and transferred to your Riad in the centre of town. Meet our rep for a tour briefing and then spend the rest of the day at leisure.
This morning depart across the Plain of Haouz and into the rugged High Atlas mountains where you can admire the views en route to the heart of the Toubkal National park at Ourigane. This afternoon enjoy a walk through the Berber villages, a definite must is to stop for tea (approx. 2 hours walking). Later we return to your hotel to relax this evening.
Today with accompanying mules, enjoy a days walk or on the back of your trusty 'mates' to Tassa Ourigane at the end of the valley. Here, see the peak of Toubkal, the highest in North Africa. Enjoy taking a picnic at the head of the valley we then make our way back to the hotel to relax (approx. 3-4 hours walking with stops).
Today discover the old salt pans and lakeside with a walk around Ourigane in the morning, with a chance to paddle in the lake if it’s too hot! After a picnic lunch, it’s possible to walk around the gorges made by the rivers of snow-melt in April time. Here, the locals find quartz and crystal geodes that you will see for sale, maybe you will be lucky and find one for your home collection (approx 3-4 hours walking with stops).
Today the beach beckons - We descend from the mountains to sea level and the lovely little seaside town of Essaouira. Arriving here, check into your hotel - the rest of the time here is at your leisure to relax or explore as you wish.
Enjoy a lazy days at leisure in Essaouira. Perhaps take a camel ride along the beach, try a bit of wind surfing or simply sunbathe! Tonight why not try one of the many tasty restaurants in the medina.
Morning or afternoon the choice is yours, we will transfer you to your hotel back in Marrakech.
Free day in Marrakech. Set against the snowcapped Atlas Mountains, Marrakech has long been a travellers favourite stop-off point. After all, it is situated on ancient caravan routes. Its great pride and landmark, visible from many miles, is the Koutoubia Tower, sister to the Tower of Hassan in Rabat and the Giralda Tower in Sevillle.
