Today we transfer to Rabat. Here you have the rest of the day to explore the Tour hassan and Chellah and medina on your own.
Today- off to Fes via Meknes and the Roman city of Volubilis. At Volubilis you will see the ruins of the Roman city, past the fields of lentils and chickpeas, into the hills around this well preserved city where its possible to explore the mosaics and forum.
The oldest and largest medieval city in the world, Fes is a bustling hive of activity. You have a free day to explore. The medina is a must – a heady mix of aromas, sounds and sights from the tanneries, spice tubs, carpets, pottery and leather goods. To navigate, follow the tourist circuits. There are 5 circuits, each with a different colour, each with a different theme, such as palaces and gardens, traditional crafts etc.
Today we have a trip over the Middle Atlas to the High Atlas Mountains and the Gorge du Ziz. After the High Atlas, the plain of Errachidia dissolves into the Sahara. Night in Merzouga at the edge of the Sahara (Air conditioned rooms, but it will still be hot at night).
Today you can rise early to see the sun rise over the dunes of Erg Chebbi and then depart to the Gorges of Todhra and Dades.
We continue on to Ouarzazate, which African traders once used on their journeys up to Europe. Ouarzazate has a large film studio where films such as Alexander the Great, The Last Temptation of Christ and The Living Daylights have been produced.
To Marrakech today, via the Kasbah Ait Ben Haddou and over the High Atlas to the plains of Houaz and Marrakech. The focal point is the central square, the Djemâa-el- Fna, an extraordinary gathering and market place. Full of colour, spicy aromas and traders it is best seen in the evening when overflowing with food stalls, dancers, acrobats, fortune tellers, musicians and henna artists.
