Today, head off along the Mediterranean coast to Chefchaouen, the “blue” city in the Rif Mountains - a haven of tranquility and peace. Chefchaouen is a beautiful blue door and white walled medina that was orginally a Berber post. This afternoon you have the opportunity to explore the city.
Today you have the day at leisure to further explore Chefchaouen. The town is easy to explore and the old Kasbah is worth a visit. Built by Moulay Ismail, it is now practically a ruin, and next to it is the Great Mosque. Although the medina is small, walk on to the main square and the souks, that sell an array of goods and pop into the tiny hat shop selling beanies and berets. If you head on to the Jewish quarter behind the jewellery souk, you will feel the difference between it and the main Arabic feel of the town.
Today you journey through the Rif mountains to Fes. The Rif mountains are still relatively unexplored by visitors, partly because they are quite remote, and partly because of the hashish that is grown in fields in the hidden valleys. However with your guide and driver, you will be able to relax and see the unspoilt Morocco.
Fes is the oldest and largest medieval city in the world and a bustling hive of activity. This morning take a guided tour around the incredible, old medina - a heady mix of aromas, sounds and sights from the tanneries, spice tubs, pottery and donkeys! Enjoy free time in the afternoon to explore independently.
Heading out of the city this morning, visit the ancient Roman city of Volubilis in the foothills of the Middle Atlas mountains. Incredible mosiacs, gates, villas and the forum still remain. In the afternoon, see the town of and spend the night in the Imperial city of Meknes.
Today you will take a train to Casablanca from Meknes. Once you arrive in Meknes you take a taxi to the hotel.
