Morocco tour reviews

A wonderful tour in all respects. Jamal provided all we could wish for and coped with the age difference in our group (20's to 80) extremely well. The 9 am starts were most welcome and the attractions we covered were amazing. Morocco has so much to offer and we felt we saw most of it in a wonderful way. Hotels (except Rabat) were great and unique, food was distinctive and people friendly and helpful. Jamal and Mustafa, our driver were also amazing in the heat with no water in Ramadan. We would highly recommend Jamal on Facebook, except we do not use it.

All up, thank you On the Go, from two experienced travelling oldies, for a exceptional holiday. ”

Aziz Benyahia was exceptional. At all times he was professional, helpful, attending to requests from group members and had great knowledge of Morocco. He took great pride and care in showing us all the Moroccan lifestyle. Thank you.”

Our guide Jamal & driver Ali were absolutely wonderful in taking great care of my son & I throughout the visit, amply showing us the renowned Berber / Amazigh hospitality, the sights, sounds & taste of Morocco, and we also got to learn about the history, contemporary politics & languages of the country! All in all, it was a very well-packaged introduction to Morocco & On-the-Go Tour must be very proud of your people on the ground who display such passion & professionalism in their job & strong family spirit with their guests & other colleagues. A few of the hotels could really be better given the claim to be 4-stars (compared to the other packages) even if the caveat was indeed provided that they are local, but it was in fact the smaller & more local ones which were a lot nicer especially our last night at Marrakech where the Princess was such a pretty gem of a Riad right in the heart of Jamaa el-Fnaa that we didn't want to leave!”

Experience the Real Morocco

The aromas and sounds of ancient medinas and colourful souks in Marrakech will leave you spinning whilst the imperial cities of Fes and Meknes will leave you utterly enchanted. Iconic Casablanca preserves its Hispanic-Moorish influence whilst Chefchaouen captivates with its pretty blue buildings and mountain setting.

There's adventure in abundance on the hiking trails of the Atlas Mountains and the massive sand dunes of Erg Chebbi and the Sahara desert. The fortified city of Ait Benhaddou, famous for it's part in a number of famous movies is a real highlight and if you love the sea, Essaouira on the Atlantic coast is ideal to wile away a few days in.

Recommended places to visit in Morocco

Whether you're looking for an authentic desert experience, trekking opportunities or exotic cities, Morocco has something for everyone but there are a few destinations that should be on every first-time visit and here's our selection.

Chefchaouen - The Blue Pearl

View on map
Relaxing in blue surroundings

Perched high up in the Rif Mountains, the picturesque city of Chefchaouen is renowned for its pretty blue-washed doors and buildings. The main square is the heart of the city and an absolute delight to explore with an 18th century Kasbah, central mosque, buzzing cafes and colourful market stalls. There's also a Jewish quarter that has a very different atmosphere to the main Arabic part of town.

Sahara Desert - Camp Under the Stars

View on map
Camel trekking | Sahara | Morocco

No trip to Morocco would be complete without a camel trek out into the vast Sahara Desert – and we mean it! Ride saddle-back across the towering Erg Chebbi sand dunes to a traditional Berber camp and enjoy an evening eating local food, listening to music and dancing around a camp fire before retiring for a night under the stars. If you only do one thing in Morocco, this is it!

Essaouira - Coastal Retreat

View on map
Essaouira | Morocco

Once the favourite haunt of legends such as Jimi Hendrix, Bob Marley and Orson Wells, Essaouria is the perfect spot to unwind, eat great seafood and watch the world go by. Originally encircled by the old walls of the medina, the town has grown since but it still easy to explore by foot. A long and wide sandy beach stretches out in front of the medina, with plenty of nearby cafes and terraces.

Fes - Imperial City

View on map
Tannery | Fes | Morocco

Step back in time in Fes, the oldest and largest medieval city in the world. In the medina you’ll be greeted by a heady mix of aromas, sights and sounds where you can easily lose yourself and your senses. Wander the streets, see the pungent tanneries in action, chat with the locals, browse market stalls with a variety of wares and practise your bargaining skills.

Marrakech - Intoxicating City

View on map
Djemaa el Fna | Marrakech | Morocco

A city brimming with character, you could easily lose track of time in Marrakech. The medina and market square of Djemaa el Fna are the beating heart of the old city, with narrows passageways lined with overflowing shops, crisscrossing alleyways with lively cafes and restaurants and a maze of covered markets rich in aromas, exotic sights and sounds.

Todra Gorge - Outdoor Adventure

View on map
Todra Gorge | Morocco

Formed millions of years ago, Todra Gorge snakes its way through the rugged High Atlas Mountain and is an incredibly dramatic sight to behold. With spectacular scenery, the ever changing colours of the rock faces and the hubbub of locals passing through it is the perfect place to stop for a while. Plus there’s opportunity to go trekking, try rock climbing, horse riding and more outdoor pursuits.
