Itinerary


Day 1: Ulaan Baatar
Ulaan Baatar. Meet and transfer to the Hotel. In the afternoon, sightseeing in Ulaan Baatar, including the Gandan monastery and the Natural history museum. Evening concert of Mongolian traditional music and dance. Welcome dinner at the restaurant. Overnight - Hotel.
 
Day 2: Terelj National Park
Ulaan Baatar - Terelj National Park. Drive to Terelj National Park to the tourist camp. There are national gers in beautiful natural locations, so it's easy to meet with locals and see their daily lives, interact with them, explore by horse riding, go bird watching, go trekking or swimming in the "Tuul river". Overnight - tourist Gers. Full board.
 
Days 3 & 4: Terelj National Park
Free time, horse riding. This mountain forest is a protected area, sheltering bears, musk deer, elk, wolves, foxes and badgers. We have a trip to Turtle Rock and to the nomadic tented camps. Overnight - Gers. Full board. 
  
Day 5: Bayanzag
Ulaan Baatar - Dalanzadgad - Gobi desert. Transfer to Ulaan Baatar airport. Fly to "Dalanzadgad". (There are only two domestic flights a week on Tuesday and Friday. In July and in August there are daily direct flights to South Gobi desert.) Arrive and transfer to Gobi desert Tourist Gers Camp. In the afternoon, drive to Bayanzag; archeological finds of the Paleolithic era were found here as well as a complete dinosaur skeletons, eggs and hatchlings from the cretaceous period. Free time to explore the " Cemetery of Dinosaurs". Return overland. Overnight - Tourist Gers Camp. Full board. 
 
Day 6: Yolyn Am Canyon
Camel riding tour to the Strictly Protected Area of "Yolyn Am Canyon". Camping in tent, close to "Yolyn Am". Full board.  
 
Day 7: Yolyn Am Canyon
Camel riding excursion in "Yolyn Am Canyon". If travelling in July, it is the time to see the permanent ice. The endemic plants and impressive wildlife such as numerous vultures, ibex and argali. The boundary of the Protected Area is marked and at the entrance the visitor will find a small, well-maintained museum and a few gift shops. Overnight - Gobi tourist Gers Camp. Full board. 
 
Day 8: Ulaan Baatar
Transfer to "Dalanzagad" airport and fly to Ulaan Baatar. Transfer to the hotel. Rest of the day is free. Half board. 
 
Day 9: Bayangobi
Ulaan Baatar - Bayangobi - Breakfast. Departure for Bayangobi ("Elsen Tasarhai" - a spectacular sea of sand dunes) - 280 km from Ulaan Baatar. Lunch (lunch box) on the way to the tourist camp, where we are staying tonight. This afternoon we have a walking tour of the area. Full board.
 
Day 10: Khogno Khaan mountains
Bayangobi - breakfast. We visit Ovgont temple at the Khogno Khaan mountains, followed by a visit to a Nomad family and explore the surrounding area in the afternoon. Full board.
 
Day 11: Kharakorum 
Bayangobi - breakfast. After breakfast departure to Kharakorum (100 km) Accommodation at the tourist camp. Visit Erene Zuun monastery - the first Buddhist monastery in Mongolia. It was built by the initiative of the most influential Khalkha lord Abtai Khan, in 1586 on the spot of Kharkhorin, the famous capital of the Mongolian Empire in the 13th century. In the afternoon we visit  a Nomad family to observe the nomadic way of life and taste milk products, including airag (fermented mares milk). Overnight - tourist camp. Full board.
 
Day 12: Ulaan Tsutgalan waterfall
After early breakfast departure for Ulaan Tsutgalan waterfall. Explore the waterfall area and have a lunch box. Drive back to Kharakorum, to our accommodation for the night at the tourist camp. Full board.
 
Day 13: Ulaan Baatar 
Ulaan Baatar - Breakfast. We travel to Ulaan Baatar and check into our hotel. Rest of the day is free. Dinner at a city restaurant or at the hotel. Full board.
 
Day 14: Ulaan Baatar 
Our trip ends today with a transfer to airport.
