Day 2: st pete's city tour

Today tour the stunning city of Tsars, with the whimsical Church on Spilled Blood, St Isaac’s Cathedral, St Savior Cathedral, Nevsky Prospect, Peter and Paul Fortress - home to the SS Peter and Paul Cathedral, housing the tombs of the Romanov monarchs. Overnight - 3 star river cruiser (B, L, D)

Day 3: the winter palace

This morning visit the opulent Winter Palace. Once the royal residence of the Tsars, the palace is now home to the Hermitage Museum, which has one of the biggest art collections on earth! Overnight - 3 star river cruiser (B, L, D)

Days 4 - 8: Volga River

Over the coming days, relax and enjoy life aboard, whilst you cruise along the Neva river, stopping for sightseeing at ancient Golden Ring towns and charming villages. With a beautiful backdrop of rolling hills, rivers, forest and steppes, cruise beyond Lake Ladoga to picturesque Kizhi Island on Lake Onega. Here you can explore the open air museum, UNESCO protected churches and the fine arts museum. The next port of call is Goritzy, where you’ll visit the Monastery of St Cyril on the White Lake - one of the oldest and most famous monasteries in Russia, dating back to the 14th century. The monastery is a home to the most exquisite icon collection in the world. In Yaroslavl explore the incredible Monastery of the Transfiguration of the Saviour and see the beautiful frescoes in Church of Elijah. Continuing your journey, head to the favoured city of Ivan the Terrible, historical Uglich, where you enjoy a walking tour of the Kremlin and the cities most famous site - The Church of St. Dimitry on Blood. The church boasts a stunning red facade in contrast with star-studded, teal blue cupolas and the interior is just as delightful. Overnight - 3 star river cruiser (B:5, L:5, D:5)

Day 9: moscow city tour

Soak up the beautiful riverside views as you approach the big smoke. This afternoon arrive into Moscow and enjoy a city tour visiting Christ the Savior Cathedral, the Moskva River embankment and the observation platform of Sparrow Hill. Overnight - 3 star river cruiser (B, L, D)

Day 10: red square and the kremlin

Today, venture to the legendary Red Square - site of the breathtaking and iconic St Basil’s Cathedral. Take a guided tour of Red Square and Moscow’s mighty Kremlin and Armoury. Overnight - 3 star river cruiser (B, L, D)

Day 11: Moscow

Your tour finishes after breakfast. Onward departure transfer to the airport. (B)
