Day 1

Welcome to Tallinn, the capital of Estonia and the start of your holiday! Sparkling with kaleidoscopic history, culture and architecture, Tallinn, the northernmost and the smallest of the Baltic states, hugs the Gulf of Finland. Upon arrival at your hotel the rest of the day is free for you to explore the city.
Overnight: Tallinn

Day 2
Tallinn Old Town

Tallinn - St Petersburg. Steeped in Maritime tradition, Tallinn is a pedestrian-friendly city and offers an enchanting mix of church spires, medieval turrets and cobblestone streets in its UNESCO Listed Old Town. On a guided walking tour today you'll discover this picturesque area, where you'll stroll along the fascinating narrow streets and alleyways, which give way to medieval towers, churches and shop fronts that were once the preserve of wealthy merchants.

Touring continues to the upper part of the Old Town known as Toompea, where you'll see Toompea Castle and the impressive Alexander Nevsky Cathedral with its lofty church spires. Here you will also see the austere Lutheran Dome Church, which was once a burial place for those of wealth and nobility. The interiors of both churches are filled with colourful mosaics and delicately carved icons. After free time this afternoon you'll board the Princess Anastasia ferry bound for St Petersburg, Russia.
Overnight: Princess Anastasia Ferry  |  Breakfast

Day 3
St Petersburg

Wake up this morning to the sights of St Petersburg - city of the Tsars. Upon arrival you'll be met by your tour guide. You'll then set off on a guided sightseeing tour of the city. A visit will be made to Admiralty End and the Bronze Horseman as well as to Peter and Paul Fortress and Cathedral - once used as a political prison, containing the likes of Dostoevsky and Lenin’s older brother, Alexander.

Later you'll embark on a guided tour of the stunning Winter Palace - which was home to the Tsars for almost two centuries, to view the world famous Hermitage collection. As one of the world's largest art collections, the Hermitage offers a broad range of exhibits including Asian and European art, pre-historic art and the awe-inspiring treasury collection. There are also countless works from the Masters such as Van Gogh, Picasso and Matisse.
Overnight: St Petersburg  |  Breakfast

Day 4
Free Time St Pete's

St Petersburg - Helsinki. Today is free for you to independently explore St Petersburg. Or there may be the option to book a half day tour of either Catherine Palace at Tsarkoe Selo (in winter) or the gardens of Peter the Great's Peterhof, which overlooks the Gulf of Finland (in summer). Book and pay locally.

Often referred to as Russia’s ‘Versailles’, the gardens of Peterhof are a wonderland of greenery and flowers, sweeping vistas and ornate architectural decorations. Please note that the gardens of Peterhof are the highlight, not the interior of the palace and for this reason we do not go inside the palace on our tour. At Catherine Palace its the exterior and the interiors of this lavishly decorated building that really catch the eye, including the stunning Amber Room.

Late this afternoon you'll need to make your own way to the St Petersburg ferry port to board the Princess Maria ferry, returning to Helsinki.
Overnight: Princess Maria Ferry  |  Breakfast

Day 5
Helsinki!

This morning you will arrive into Helsinki, and after disembarkation and immigration your tour comes to an end. Helsinki, resting on the shores of the Gulf of Finland, a branch of the Baltic Sea, is both historic and modern. In contrast to the city’s 450 years of history, historic architecture and unique Finnish design, the beauty of the city blends seamlessly with high-tech achievements. It is here where old traditions mix with the latest contemporary trends.

Helsinki’s rhythm is laid back yet at the same time refreshingly active in terms of both the number and quality of restaurants and nightclubs as well as things to see and do. In Helsinki, everything is nearby, it’s a pocket-sized metropolis easily explored on foot. Today you could opt to visit the Helsinki Cathedral with its rich architecture designed by Carl Ludvig Engel in neoclassical style, Suomenlinna Fortress with its old cannon and submarines, market stores and arty stalls - or perhaps have a coffee at Market Square followed by a scoop of ice cream at Esplanade park.
