Gagarin Cosmonaut Training Centre Holidays

Gagarin Cosmonaut Training Centre

In 1961, Yuri Gagarin blasted off aboard Vostok 1 to become the first man in space. With the launch of Sputnik 1 way back in 1957, came the USSR & USA space race. Created in 1960, 35km from Moscow, Star City or more correctly - Gagarin Cosmonaut Training Centre has been the training centre for every cosmonaut since Gagarin.

With a professional guide, we will tour the facility, where you'll learn about the history of Russian space flight and see state of the art simulators used for the training of Russian cosmonauts and foreign astronauts, such as the integrated simulators/mock-ups for the Soyuz, ISS and MIR space station modules, the vast Neutral Buoyancy Lab which simulates microgravity and the small or large centrifuges that simulate G-loads.

After the tour, enjoy lunch at the GCTC restaurant. Unique photo opportunities exist at the Alley of Heroes; the route cosmonauts follow when leaving for the Baikonur Cosmodrome (launch-site).

Note: As Star City is a live training centre, at times our tour maybe cancelled with short notice. In such cases an alternative tour content will be arranged.
