Welcome to Russia and the start of your holiday! You will be met on arrival and transferred to your hotel (the night of the 1st has been booked so you can check straight into your hotel on arrival) Today take a city tour that takes us to the main sights. Drive along colourful Nevsky Prospekt, the main avenue of St Pete’s, there’ll be a stop at the famous Church on Spilled Blood (viewed from outside from the Nevsky prospect side for photo opportunities) and Peter and Paul Fortress, the oldest building in St Petersburg. Built in 1703, this fortress was once used as a political prison - containing the likes of Dostoevsky and Lenin’s older brother, Alexander.
Today we visit perhaps the best museum in the world - the Heritage. With only 10% of the 3 million exhibits on show, the variety and quality of the museum is breath-taking, ranging from gifts to the Tsars to archaeological finds and includes masterpieces from some of the greatest painters. Later enjoy a river cruise to view the city from a different perspective.
Today we travel out to the gardens of Peter the Great’s Peterhof, which overlook the Gulf of Finland. We then stop for a hearty restaurant lunch overlooking the Griboyedov Canal. Our typical lunch menu includes traditional Russian favourites such as Borsch, Beef Stroganoff, dessert and a shot of Vodka. After lunch we continue with a guided tour of the interior of the famous Church on Spilled Blood.
Spend the next 5 days at your leisure to explore independently.
