Welcome to Russia and the start of your holiday! Arriving into Moscow airport our local team await to transfer you to your hotel. The remainder of today is at your leisure.
After breakfast we head to legendary Red Square and on to the mighty Kremlin - seat of Russia’s power; where we enjoy a guided tour or the Kremlin and Armoury, taking in the cathedrals, the bell-tower complex, the treasures in the armoury chamber and the largest bell in the world (200 ton) which has never been rung and is situated near the Tsar cannon that has never been fired.
Today is a day combining art in every sense! We explore the Tretyakov Gallery which houses the best examples of Russian art, from icons to modern art, including Soviet propaganda paintings. This afternoon, we take a ride on the underground, seeing the Moscow Metro stations, built during Stalin’s rule as “palaces for the people”. Lavish designs, with columns and chandeliers, sculptures and paintings, they truly are a sight to behold.
Today is free for you to relax or explore independently and this evening we will transfer you to the train station for your overnight train to Novgorod.
Arriving into Novgorod, we will pick you up from the train station. A tour of Novgorod takes in the riverside fortified kremlin, cathedral and other sights. The fortress was mentioned in chronicles as early as in 1044, whilst today’s walls and towers, despite being re-built in 15th century, are impressive all the same. Tonight you will get to experience a steamy traditional Russian banya (sauna).
This morning we are transferred to the train station for your train to St Petersburg. Upon arrival we will pick you up and en route to your hotel enjoy a city orientation tour of this stunning city of Tsars. The remainder of the day is at your leisure.
Today spend the day with our expert guide exploring the northernmost major city in the world. We start off with a visit to the Peter and Paul Fortress. Within the Peter and Paul Fortress compound is SS Peter and Paul Cathedral with its angel shaped weather vane perched on top of the razor thin needle; housing the tombs of the Romanov monarchs. This afternoon guided tour of the Yusupov's Palace on the banks of the Moika River. This beautiful 18th century palace was once the residence of the Yusupov's, the richest family in Russia and the site of the most legendary and mysterious episodes in Russian history occurred - the murder of Rasputin in 1916.

Today we visit the palaces of the Tsars, the summer Palace - Catherine’s Palace and the Peterhof. Both stunningly beautiful buildings, this morning’s visit to Catherine Palace is home to the Amber Room, made from several tons of amber. This afternoon we explore the Peterhof boasting one of the largest fountains in the world (unfortunately this will not be running over this winter period, but we can explore the inside of the building). These Palaces offer insight into the privileged lives of Russia’s Tsarsist aristocracy.
This morning we enjoy a guided visit to perhaps the best museum in the world, housed in a majestic building - the Hermitage. With only 10 % of the 3 million exhibits on show, the variety and quality of the museum is breath-taking. This afternoon we enjoy a guided tour of the interior of The Church on Spilled Blood with time to shop in the souvenir market located alongside the church.
The next two days are free for you to relax or explore independently.
Sadly your journey exploring parts of Russia has come to its end, we will transfer you to St Petersburg airport in time for your flight home.
