Travel to the former summer Imperial residence. Set in magnificent gardens, Peterhoff is reminiscent of Versailles. You will have the unique opportunity which can happen only in summer - to go to Peterhoff by hydrofoil and to see the splendid ensemble of fountains and the Grand Palace from the sea. The fountains of Peterhof are one of the most famous tourist attractions. The diversity of fountains in the park is surprising. After visiting Peterhoff you ‘ll go back to the city by private car.
Today we take a city tour that takes us to the main sights. We drive along colourful Nevsky Prospekt, the main avenue of St Pete’s from which most main attractions can be easily reached. We will visit St Isaac's Cathedral, The Church on Spilled Blood and Peter and Paul's fortress, home to the SS Peter and Paul Cathedral, housing the tombs of the Romanov monarchs.
Situated on the banks of the River Neva and partly housed in the breathtaking Winter Palace (which was home to the Tsars for almost two centuries), is the world famous Hermitage collection - one of the world's largest art collections. The collection offers a broad range of exhibits including Asian and European art, Pre historic art and the awe inspiring treasury collection. There are also countless works from the Masters such as Van Gogh, Picasso and Matisse. Today enjoy a guided tour of the Hermitage, where you will be taken to see the highlights of this incredible collection and the beautiful baroque palace that houses it.
Today you are transferred to the train station as you take the day train south to the capital of Moscow. Upon arrival you will be met by our local representatives and transferred to your accommodation. Enjoy the rest of the day at your leisure.
Start the day with a guided walk of Kitay-Gorod (one of the oldest parts of Moscow) and Lubyanka area. You'll see ancient churches and buildings and the outside of the FSB (successor to the infamous KGB) as you head to the highlight of your walk - the impressive Red Square. Experience the magic of Moscow as you approach the Resurrection gate - a beautiful red archway that leads to Red swuare, from where you can catch your first glimpse of the wonderfully coloured fairytale castle of St Basil's.
Today, we tour Russia’s powerhouse - the mighty Kremlin, with guided walk through the grounds where we’ll see numerous government buildings, gold-domed cathedrals and the tsar bell - the largest bell that never rang! Afternoon at leisure.
A day combining art in every sense! We explore the Tretyakov Gallery which houses the best examples of Russian art, from icons to modern art, including Soviet propaganda paintings. This afternoon, we take a ride on the underground, seeing the Moscow Metro stations, built during Stalin’s rule as “palaces for the people”. Lavish designs, with columns and chandeliers, sculptures and paintings, they truly are a sight to behold.
We will transfer you to the airport in time for your departure flight.
