Today enjoy a guided tour of Moscow's most famous sites - in Red Square see the beautiful St. Basil's Cathedral (both inside and out), with its wildly colourful turban shaped domes, wander around the historic GUM department store and if open, pay your respects to Lenin at the mausoleum. This afternoon explore the grounds of the mighty Kremlin - Russia's powerhouse; visit its gold domed cathedrals, Ivan the Great Bell Tower and the Armoury, where you can see incredible jewels and ancient artifacts.
A day combining art in every sense! We explore the Tretyakov Gallery which houses the best examples of Russian art, from icons to modern art, including Soviet propaganda paintings. This afternoon, we take a ride on the underground, seeing the Moscow Metro stations, built during Stalin’s rule as “palaces for the people”. Lavish designs, with columns and chandeliers, sculptures and paintings, they truly are a sight to behold.
This morning you will drive to Sergiev Posad to visit The Trinity Lavra of St. Sergius, which is said to be the most important Russian monastery and the spiritual centre of the Russian Orthodox Church. After Lunch you will continue to Vladimir and enjoy a city tour. Vladimir was one of the medieval capitals of Russia. Finally continuing onto Suzdal for your overnight stay.
This morning enjoy a half day sightseeing tour of Suzdal. Suzdal is a small, picturesque town in the Vladimir region, which is officially protected against unsightly 20th Century development, and loaded to the hilt with old buildings such as the Kremlin and Cathedral. Dating back to 1024, ancient Suzdal forms part of the Golden Ring, with stunning medieval architecture and an astounding number of churches and monasteries, making it a major religious centre in Russia. After lunch you will visit the rural town of Kideksha. Enjoy the rest of the day at your leisure.
Leaving Suzdal you will travel to the town of Yaroslavl, here you will enjoy a guided sightseeing tour of the city. The historic part of the city, a World Heritage Site, is located at the confluence of the Volga and the Kotorosl Rivers. Later today you will be transferred to the railway station for your overnight train to St Petersburg.
Today we enjoy an in-depth tour of the Yusupov Palace and St.Isaac's cathedral and the Church on Spilled Blood (inside & out), as well as a city tour. Remainder of the day at your leisure.
Today we visit Peterhof Palace, the former summer Imperial residence. Set in magnificent gardens, Peterhoff is reminiscent of Versailles. We then head to the Winter Palace, the mighty Hermitage. The collection of the State Hermitage includes more than three million works of art and artifacts of the world culture. Among them are paintings, graphic works, sculptures and works of applied art, archaeological finds and numismatic material.
Today we visit the summer palace - Catherine Palace. Catherine Palace is home to the Amber Room, made from several tons of amber. The lavish Palace and gardens offer insight into the privileged lives of Russia’s Tsarsist aristocracy.
