Day 1: Moscow

Welcome to Russia and the start of eye opening adventure on the Trans-Siberian railway! Arriving into Moscow Airport our local team are on hand to meet you and transfer you to your apartment that you have booked at your own arrangements.

Day 2: Moscow

This morning at 09:00 AM our driver will meet you to take you on an exciting excursion to go Inside a Soviet Bunker, we head 65 meters underground to explore a Stalinist-era bunker that up until recently was a top secret symbol of Soviet Power. The remainder of today is at your leisure to explore at your leisure. Today you will have a briefing where you collect all your tickets for the onward journey and can ask questions.

Day 3: Moscow - Trans Siberian train

Enjoy the morning at your leisure to explore. At 15:30 our driver collects you and will take you to the station to catch the 16:50 train number 60, destination Yekaterinburg.

Day 4: Trans Siberian train - Yekaterinburg

Enjoy the splendid scenery that you pass today as the train plies its route. Arriving into Yekaterinburg at 20:11 meet up with our local driver who will take you to your hotel (Hotel Tsentralniy)

Day 5: Yekaterinburg

Today your included city with our expert guide, takes in the new monastery that marks the site of the Romanov family’s execution in 1918 and Ganina Yama - a beautiful monastic complex built on the site where their bodies were discarded and later found. The tour also takes you to the Europe/Asia border where you can stand with a foot in each continent!

Day 6: Yekaterinburg - Trans Siberian train

Today enjoy a day in the countryside to Peschanoe Lake and walk along the river banks, taking in the breathtaking views, before heading to the 17th century Ural village of Reshoty, which has maintained its ancient way of life. Russian wooden houses, made without nails, are still used today. We will be sure to transfer you to the train station for the 22:17 train number 80, destination Irkutsk.

Days 7-8: Trans Siberian train

Spend today and tomorrow settled into life aboard the Trans-Siberian Express as it winds its way east passing spectacular scenery.

Day 9: Trans Siberian train - Baikal Area

Morning arrival into Irkutsk, a town with the Asiatic influences of nearby Mongolia and China and curious architecture - a legacy of Siberia’s aristocratic exiles. Meet up with our local driver who will transfer you to the small village of Litsvinyanka. (Hotel Legenda Baikala)

Days 10-11: Baikal Area

Spend today and tomorrow relaxing in the village of Listvyanka by beautiful Lake Baikal. (Hotel Legenda Baikala)

Day 12: Baikal Area - Trans Siberian train

Today our driver will bring you back to Irkutsk in time for the 22:10 train number 362, destination Ulan Ude.

Day 13: Trans Siberian train - Ulan Ude

06:25 AM arrival into Ulan Ude and our local driver will be there to take you to your hotel.(Hotel Buryatia) Thanks to its proximity to Mongolia and China, the indigenous people of the region, the Buryats, clung on to their Tibetan-Buddhist faith through the Communist era. Your guided city tour later today visits Ivolginsky Datsan - a centre of Buddhist culture and the open air Ethnographic Museum dedicated to the lives of local people and architecture through the ages.

Day 14: Ulan Ude - Trans Siberian train

After a leisurely morning your driver will return you to the station for the 13:45 train number 6 to Ulaan Bataar.

Day 15: Trans Siberian train - Terelj National Park

Morning 06:30 arrival into Ulaanbaatar after crossing the Mongolian border during the very early hours. Arriving here, our driver awaits to take you to Terelj National Park and your Ger Camp home for the night, stopping en route to visit a Nomadic Family and see the awesome Turtle Rock formation.

Day 16: Terelj National Park

Enjoy the day to explore the beautiful surrounds from your wilderness base.

Day 17: Terelj National Park - Ulaan Baatar

This morning we transfer you to your hotel in the city to enjoy free time to explore the pine-covered mountains, wide boulevards, vast public squares and parks that give the city a feeling of spaciousness. Overnight at the Hotel Namuun

Day 18: Ulaan Baatar

Enjoy the day to explore the city.

Day 19: Ulaan Baatar - Trans Siberian train

Our local driver will ensure to have you at the station in time for 07:15 train number 24, destination Beijing China! Enjoy panoramic views of uninterrupted steppe, with the occasional nomad, camel and ger dotting the landscape. Continuing south the train enters the flat, dry and sparsely populated landscape of the Gobi desert before crossing the border into China.

Day 20: Trans Siberian train - Beijing

The train pulls into Beijing, China’s bustling capital, in the afternoon, thus concludes your Trans Siberian adventure. Meet up with our local Chinese team at the station who will transfer you to your hotel.

Day 21: Beijing

Today, we drive beyond Beijing to Badaling, to walk a section of the famous Great Wall. Built in the Ming Dynasty, a 6m wide pathway makes a formidable defence, following the highest contours of a steep range of hills. After taking time to catch our breath we tour a nearby cloisonne workshop demonstrating the ancient Chinese art of combining copper and enamel to make decorative pieces, then return to your hotel in the city.

Forbidden City

Day 22: Beijing

Today, we embark on a guided tour of the nation’s capital. Tiananmen Square, a patriotic vision of grandeur and the Forbidden city, the walled city of the former Chinese emperors boasting stunning temples, courtyards and reception halls. The afternoon is at your leisure to explore, we would highly recommend a visit to the Summer Palace or Temple of Heaven or the silk alley markets for some shopping.

Day 23: Beijing

Today marks the end of your journey with On the Go Tours. After breakfast and hotel check out we will transfer you to the railway station in time for your bullet train to Shanghai.
