Speedy Gonzales - 10 days
Uncover the highlights of the Inca Empire with this tour of Peruâs ancient cities. Trek through stunning mountain scenery and watch daybreak over Machu Picchu on this unforgettable journey.
Day 1: Lima
Welcome to Peru and the start of your holiday! Upon arrival to your hotel in Lima the afternoon offers free time for you to explore the city. This evening our group welcome meeting takes place. Overnight - Lima
Days 2 - 4: Cuzco
A short flight high into the Andes over spectacular mountain scenery brings us to the former Inca capital of Cuzco, which means ânavel of the earthâ in the language of Quechua. Enjoy an orientation walking tour of this enchanting city. With a mostly indigenous population, Cuzco is a fantastic place to see Inca architecture with massive walls and building foundations. Wander around the Plaza de Armas, dominated by the Cathedral and La Compañia de Jesus Church, and through the cloistered arcades housing fine restaurants, bars and shops. Explore the cityâs amazing churches, colonial buildings, picturesque streets and the ceremonial fortress of Sacsayhuaman that overlooks the city on top a hill. For the adventurous, try our hand at white water rafting, horse riding, mountain biking or canoeing.
We later spend a full day visiting the Sacred Valley of the Incas. The Pisac ruins are perched on a hilltop with incredible views of the snow-capped mountains whilst the traditional Indian market of the same name is famous for its colourful atmosphere. Practise your bartering skills and pick yourself up some wonderful souvenirs. Continuing along the valley we reach the temple fortress of Ollantaytambo. Here, enormous Inca terracing is constructed on the side of a steep mountain.
Overnight - Cuzco (3)

Days 5 - 6: Inca Trail
Today we start the trek of a lifetime along the ancient Inca Trail. After a briefing with your tour leader, we depart early the following morning. Day 1 of the trek is a relatively easy walk of 13km and will prepare you for the trailâs highest pass, Warmiwanusca, at a height of 4,200m! The name translates as âDead Womanâs Passâ and weâll reach it by lunch time on the second day of our trek. After the high pass we follow the trail downhill as it winds its way along old Inca stairs. Trekking on the third day we visit the ruins of Runkurakay, Sayacmarca and Phuyupatamarca with an overnight stop at Winay-Wayna. We rise early the next morning for the final walk to Machu Picchu where we greet sunrise over the famous âSun Gateâ. Explore this fabled lost Inca city on your own or simply take in the magnificence of the place. Discover the cloud-shrouded ruins of palaces, baths, temples, storage rooms and some 150 houses, all in a remarkable state of preservation. Overnight - Inca Trail (2) (B:1, L:2, D:2)
Days 7 - 8: Machu Picchu & The Sun Gate
Today, we visit the ruins of Runkurakay, Sayacmarca and Phuyupatamarca with an overnight stop at Winay-Wayna.
Towards the end of the day youâll have the chance to relieve those tired muscles with a trip to the hot springs of Aguas Calientes. Youâll also have time to meander through the markets before returning to Cuzco by train. If you are not participating in the trek you will spend your time in Cuzco enjoying the many activities on offer and travel to Machu Picchu by train. Overnight - Inca Trail (1), Cuzco (1) (B:2, L:1, D:1)

Inca Trail , Lares Trek or Machhu Pichhu by Train
|
|
If you have always dreamed of trekking the Inca Trail you will need to book your trip in advance (4 months is ideal) as the number of Inca Trail permits is limited to 500 per day. Booking early gives us the best opportunity for securing one of these permits.
When booking your tour with us we'll need your full name as it appears in your passport, date of birth, nationality and passport number. With this information we can then apply for a permit.
If the Inca Trail is unavailable, you can opt to hike the Lares Trek. With its breathtaking passes, glacial lakes and hot springs, this less crowded option, which also ends with a full dayâs visit to Machu Picchu, is thought to be equally if not more spectacular than the Inca Trail. Alternatively you could also choose to spend your time in Cuzco and take a day trip to Machu Pichhu by train.

End your tour in Lima
If you would like to end your tour in Lima, please book our 'Lima end option'
Arrangements are as follows:
Day 9 - Morning flight from Cuzco to Lima. Free afternoon. Overnight Lima.
Day 10 - Tour ends
Prices & Departure Dates
Prices shown are per person travelling. 'Twin/Double' prices per person apply when there are 2 people travelling, sharing a room. The 'Single supplement' applies to travellers who would like the comfort of their own room (on all or many of the tour nights) and needs to be added to the 'Twin/Double' price. If travelling solo and you are happy to be paired up with another single traveller of the same sex on your tour, this can be arranged provided there is another single traveller booked on the tour date of your choosing.
When booking a trip that includes the Inca Trail, this section of the holiday can not be confirmed until an Inca Trail Permit is obtained. It is essential at time of booking that you provide us with your full name as it appears in your passport, date of birth, nationality and passport number. We will then reply to you within 72 hours as to whether the Inca Trail Permit has been obtained. Once the permit has been obtained we cannot make any changes to it what so ever. If ammendments are required you would need to pay for the cost of a new permit.
Booking your holiday more than 3 months in advance greatly increases your chances of obtaining one on the 500 Inca Travel permits allocated per day!
If the Inca Trail is not available you will then be given options of hiking the Lares trek or visiting Machu Picchu by train.
For us to operate the Lares Trek we require a minimum of 4 participants. If the minimum number of travellers is not achieved an additional Lares Trek supplement and a single supplement will apply and is payable at time of booking. Should at a later date a second or third traveller from your tour group book the Lares Trek, the supplement will be divided equally between all participants and an amount refunded to you. If the Lares Trek group reaches a total of 4 persons or more, the entire supplement will be refunded to you. Please contact us for further information.
Deposit - If trekking the Inca Trail or Lares Trek please note that you will need to pay our standard tour deposit plus a non-refundable Inca Trail/Lares Trek deposit. This is not an extra payment and will be deducted from your final tour payment. Please contact us for further details.

Postcards
Here's what some of our past travellers have written in to us and said about their experiences on this trip.
HI ON THE GO!
It was another once in a lifetime holiday, thank you.
Macchu Pichu was magical, hotels, tour guide was well aranged. We have opted for the train and very happy about it. But the best part was the Amazon. The Lodge, the river and the forest was beyond imagination. The rooms had all the luxury but had no windows; gave the traveller the feeling of belonging to the forest like a parrot or a puma.
Thank you again for the ultimate experience.
Hope to join you again soon.
Ashley Johnston , Nov 2011
The Inca Trail was amazing, and it is refreshing to meet 2 guides who are so passionate about thier culture and history. Have already
reccommended this tour and guides to my friends :)
Kate Clark, Apr 2010
Excellent combination of activities, interesting and challenging,
giving a sense of real accomplishment as well as a good understanding of Peru, its history and culture.
John Crow, Apr 2010
I had a wonderful experience. It was so well organised which meant we got to enjoy the trip without the worry of what was happening next.
Excellent and would highly recommend.
