This morning a transfer to the bus station for the PUBLIC BUS to El Chalten. Arriving here, our local rep will drive you to your hotel.
Today and tomorrow at your leisure. Here is the gateway to Fitzroy National Park, renowned for its magnificent scenery and trekking opportunities. Optional half or full day treks will take you to Lake Capri and the many glaciers around the Fitzroy Massif book and pay locally for such options.
At the set time you will be transferred from El Chaltén to Puerto Natales (Chile) in a regular bus (First to El Calafate and then to El Chaltén, a connection may be needed) (OVERNIGHT PUERTO NATALES)
This morning you catch the bus to Punta Arenas - Arrival transfer to your hotel . Enjoy a city tour of Punta Arenas. First stop is the Cerro de la Cruz view point for magnificent panoramic views of the city’s colourful rooftops, the Strait of Magellan and in the distance, the large island of Tierra del Fuego. Back in Punta Arenas visit the main square with its many beautiful buildings and the Salesian Museum, displaying a complete collection on Patagonian Indians, flora, fauna, history and economy. In the afternoon take an excursion to the colony of Magellanic penguins at Seno Otway.
Free day for you to enjoy. Perhaps book and pay locally for a full day excursion of trekking in the Ascencio Valley to get up close to Torres del Paine National Park. Home to the incredible Paine Massif, a small range of mountains with unusual, twisted peaks, the national park is a striking expanse of flat brown pampa and glacial lakes.
Today you will dropped off at the station for your public bus journey to Ushuaia (11 hours) Arriving into Ushuaia, you will be driven to your hotel (The regular buses from PUQ / USH are available on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays.
Taking National Route 3 as part of a group tour you’ll discover some of the park’s most stunning natural sights including Pipo River, Ensenada Bay, Redonda Island, Roca Lake, Verde and Negra Lagoons and Castores Dam. Rich in flora and fauna, the park also offers ample variety of wildlife. Later in the afternoon board a ship in Ushuaia Bay for a cruise on the Beagle Channel. The cruise will reveal excellent views of Ushuaia as well as Olivia Mount and the Encajonado River. You’ll also see Les Eclaireurs Lighthouse and pass Pajaros Island where sun-seeking penguins and fur seals come to rest on the pebbly shores.
Enjoy a free day in Ushuaia perhaps visiting the city’s charming museums, such as the Maritime Museum and the Museum at the End of the World where Ushuaia’s interesting natural and colonial history is uncovered. Alternatively jump onboard a steam train on the Tren del Fin del Mundo and get your passport stamped with an official End of the World stamp at the Ushuaia tourist office.
After breakfast today transfer to the airport for your flight back to Buenos Aires. Arriving here, connect to your flight home.
