Day 1: Lima

Bienviendos a Peru! Welcome to Peru and the start of your journey through the land of the Incas. Upon arrival into Lima International Airport you will be met by one of our representatives and transferred to your hotel. After check in spend some time with our rep discussing your up-coming trip. The remainder of the day is free for you to enjoy at leisure.

Day 2: Lima

For centuries Lima was considered the most beautiful city in Spanish America and today discover many of the city’s most imposing and important buildings on a tour. The Plaza Mayor in the heart of the old town. Here you’ll find the opulent facade of the Palacio de Gobierno, Nearby is the austere Catedral and various small palaces and balconied edifices that helped Lima claim UNESCO World Heritage status. Discover contemporary Lima in the form of the plush suburb of San Isidro and lively Miraflores before continuing to the quiet district of Pueblo Libre to see the stylish hacienda museum.

Day 3: Lima

Enjoy a day at leisure to explore the city in your own time. If you like markets then why not grab a taxi and go to Polvos Azules (don't take valuables as pickpockets are around but this is a real local markets that sells everything, you wont see any tourists)

Day 4: Lima - Nasca

This morning we drive you to the bus station and drop you off at the correct point of embarkation for the comfortable public bus journey to Nasca. Sit back and enjoy the views as the bus passes through the pacific coastal desert, with it's wonderful eerie scenery, journey time is around 6 hours. Arriving into Nasca, a local driver will take you to your hotel.

Day 5: Nasca - Puno

This morning early you will be taken to the airstrip for your included flight over the incredible Nasca Lines. We bring you to the bus station for your bus journey back to Lima. Arriving here, our driver waits to bring you to the airprot for your evening 19:10 flight to Juliaca. Arriving into Juliaca, meet our driver that will take you to your hotel in the Lake side city of Puno.

Day 6: Puno - Islas Taquile and Amantani

After breakfast board a yacht from Puno port for a shared cruise and tour around the floating islands of Uros. Your cruise continues to the island of Amantani, renowned for the fine crafts made by inhabitants. Enjoy lunch in the community before visiting the hilltop sanctuaries of Pachatata and Pachamama. You then settle in to your home stay, meeting the family who will be your host for the night and enjoying home-cooked meals. It’s a fantastic opportunity to learn about these peoples’ lifestyle and culture.

Day 7: Islas Taquile and Amantani - Puno

This morning bid fond farewell to your home stay family and continue to the neighbouring island of Taquile. The peasant community of this island has kept intact the customs and traditions of their ancestors and a visit here is like taking a step back in time. After lunch visit archaeological ruins and soak up the immensity of Lake Titicaca – the world’s highest navigable lake – from the beautiful beaches that line Taquile’s shore. The boat then drops you off at Isla Suasi, which is a private island hotel.

Day 8: Puno

Enjoy the day at leisure by the lake, the hotel has kayaks so you can head out and explore or just relax on the island.

Day 9: Puno - Cuzco

Today sample more of Peru’s modes of transport with a spectacular 10 hour rail journey to historic Cuzco. Passing the gentle, rolling Andean Plains where vicuña and alpacas roam freely, the train climbs to 4335m above sea level at La Raya, offering incredible views of the towering, snow-capped Andean mountains. During the journey you will be served a three course lunch in the dining car followed by coffee served in the observation-bar car. Arriving into Cuzco you will be transferred to your hotel.

Day 10: Cuzco

This morning we the explore Cuzco. Your city tour takes in the Incan streets of Loreto and Ahuajpinta where you’ll find the remains of impressive Incan palaces, as well as old colonial buildings such as the Catedral. Later, head to the impressive fortress of Sacsayhuaman and the ruins of Kenko, Tambomachay and the Tambo de Puca Pukara. Afternoon is at your leisure to explore there an abundance of markets you can easily go to on your own.

Day 11: Cuzco - Sacred Valley

Today we explore the Sacred Valley area today on a full day excursion. On the way to the ancient village of Urubamba stop to visit Awanacancha, an Andean textile centre where the art of Incan textile is kept alive. Continue to the archaeological complex of Pisac, formed of a collection of remains of Incan dwellings, temples and terracing. Enjoy a spot of shopping and practise your bartering skills at the local market before stopping for lunch. The day of touring concludes with a visit to the impressive fortress and citadel of Ollantaytambo, transfer to your sacred valley hotel thereafter.

Day 12: Sacred Valley - Aguas Calientes

Today we continue touring with visits to Andean villages south of the Río Urubamba. See the lovely paintings from the Cuzco School on display in the attractive colonial church of Chinchero. Continue to Maras where the original Indian aristocratic coats of arms hang on the outside of the church and houses. From here you also see the ancient salt evaporation ponds and spectacular agricultural terraces of Moray, a circular system believed to have been used for agricultural experimentation during the Inca period. After, we catch the train to Aguas Calientes and transfer to your hotel, a stones throw from Machu Pichhu.

Day 13: Aguas Calientes - Cuzco

No place in Peru quite captures the imagination like the legendary ‘Lost City’ of Machu Picchu. Nestled in a saddle between two forested mountains and surrounded on three sides by the Urubamba River, its location couldn’t be more awe-inspiring. The city itself is brilliantly preserved, a classical Inca-style complex of polished dry-stone walls and temples. This morning embark on a guided exploration of the citadel and the wonderful Temple of the Sun and magical Temple of the Moon. Other highlights include the fascinating Sacred Plaza and the elaborately carved Intihuatana rock. Late lunch is provided at a local hotel before you return by train to Cusco.

Day 14: Cuzco - Iquitos and the Amazon

Early this morning off to the airport for the flight to the remote jungle city of Iquitos (Change plane in Lima) - the starting point for your excursion into the Amazon Jungle. A boat ride along river brings you to your jungle lodge where you will spend the next three nights in a beautiful cabaña. Enjoy the first of your included jungle activities after late lunch on arrival. (NOTE IQUITOS IS AS CLOSE TO THE START OF THE AMAZON RIVER YOU CAN VISIT EASILY AS A TOURIST - OVERNIGHT Explorama Ceiba Tops Lodge)

Days 15-16: Iquitos and the Amazon

Today and tomorrow a wide variety of excursions are on offer and included as part of your stay. From guided walks through the jungle to twilight river cruises. Sail in small wooden canoes or test your vertigo on a canopy walkway, you will learn much about the Amazonian wildlife and its most colourful characters with the excursions available and included as part of your stay. Day 17: Iquitos and the Amazon - Lima

Bidding farewell to the jungle head back to Iquitos by boat for your flight to Lima. Upon arrival in Lima you will be transferred to your hotel where the rest of the day is free. Perhaps head to the local markets for a spot of bargain hunting or mark your final night in Peru in style at one of Lima’s trendy salsa clubs.

Day 18: Lima

Sadly your journey has come to an end, we will transfer you to Lima Airport in time for your flight home.
