Day 1: Lima

Bienviendos a Peru! Welcome to Peru and the start of your journey through the land of the Incas. Upon arrival into Lima International Airport you will be met by one of our representatives and transferred to your hotel. After check in spend some time with our rep discussing your up-coming trip. The remainder of the day is free for you to enjoy at leisure. Overnight: Four Points Miraflores Hotel - Classic Room

Day 2: Lima

This morning with our guide discover why Lima has historically been such an important city with a scheduled sightseeing tour that covers Lima’s most impressive colonial buildings as well as a number of fascinating museums. The afternoon is free for you to explore Lima further. Overnight: Four Points Miraflores Hotel - Classic Room

Day 3: Lima - Iquitos and the Amazon

This morning we take a flight to Iquitos, a smaller city in the heart of the Amazon Rainforest. We then make our way to Nauta where the M/V Delfin I is waiting for us to start our Amazon Adventure. Days 4-5: Iquitos and the Amazon

Dawn and dusk are ideal times for nature observation, and an early rise is therefore highly recommended. Enjoy breakfast and viewing the morning wildlife. The Delfin Cruise offer a very in-depth itinerary, that cannot be written here, we have prepared for you a separate dossier to read relating to today and tomorrow. Day 6: Iquitos and the Amazon - Cuzco

This is our last breakfast on board. This morning we will explore the Yarapa River to the village of Puerto Miguel where we will have the chance to learn about their culture. We return to the vessel to prepare our bags and have our last lunch before disembarking in Nauta to take the bus that will transfer us to the airport for our flight back to Lima and catch the onward connection to Cuzco. Arriving on the last flight of the day into Cuzco, meet our local team who await to transfer you to your hotel. Overnight: Costa del Sol Picoaga - Colonial Room

Day 7: Cuzco

This morning explore the ‘navel of the world’ and discover why it’s considered the archaeological capital of South America. Your scheduled city tour takes in the Incan streets of Loreto and Ahuajpinta where you’ll find the remains of impressive Incan palaces, as well as old colonial buildings such as the Catedral. Later in the day, head to the impressive fortress of Sacsayhuaman and the ruins of Kenko, Tambomachay and the Tambo de Puca Pukara. Overnight: Costa del Sol Picoaga - Colonial Room

Day 8: Cuzco - Sacred Valley

Known as the Sacred Valley, the area between Cuzco and Machu Picchu is littered with traditional Andean villages and fascinating Inca ruins. Today you explore the region on a scheduled excursion, starting with the textile centre of Awanacancha where the art of Incan textile is kept alive. Continue to the archaeological complex of Pisac, formed of a collection of remains of Incan dwellings, temples and terracing. Practise your bartering skills at the local market before stopping for lunch then continue to the impressive fortress and citadel of Ollantaytambo. Day 9: Sacred Valley - Aguas Calientes

This morning explore Maras where the original Indian aristocratic coats of arms hang on the outside of the church and houses. From here you can also see the salt evaporation ponds, a patchwork of 3,000 wells that have been used since the Incan Empire. Continue to the spectacular agricultural terraces of Moray, a circular system believed to have been used for agricultural experimentation during the Inca period. Enjoy lunch at Muña Restaurant before transferring to the train station for a stunning journey to Aguas Calientes. Overnight: Hatuchay Tower Hotel - Standard Room

Day 10: Aguas Calientes - Cuzco

No place in Peru quite captures the imagination like the legendary ‘Lost City’ of Machu Picchu. The city itself is brilliantly preserved, a classical Inca-style complex of polished dry-stone walls and temples. This morning embark on a guided tour to explore the citadel and the wonderful Temple of the Sun and magical Temple of the Moon. Other highlights include the fascinating Sacred Plaza and the elaborately carved Intihuatana rock. Stop for Lunch (own expense) before you return by train to Cusco. Overnight: Costa del Sol Picoaga - Colonial Room

Day 11: Cuzco

Sadly your journey has come to an end, we will transfer you to the airport in time for your flight to Lima where you can catch your onward connection flight home.
