Day 1: Cuzco

Bienviendos a Peru! Welcome to Peru and the start of your journey through the land of the Incas. Upon arrival into Cuzco Airport you will be met by one of our representatives and transferred to your hotel. Cuzco is home to some of the finest examples of Inca history and architecture, which you will discover touring the sights of the Plaza de Armas, the Catedral and the Koricancha complex – a supreme example of Inca stonework, on an afternoon scheduled tour. Head out further afield to tour the Kenko Amphitheatre, the fortified hunting lodge of Puca Pucara, the stunning imperial baths of Tambo Machay and the megalithic fortress of Sacsayhuaman.

Day 2: Cuzco - Sacred Valley

Explore the Sacred Valley area today on a full day scheduled excursion. On the way to the ancient village of Urubamba stop to visit Awanacancha, an Andean textile centre where the art of Incan textile is kept alive. Continue to the archaeological complex of Pisac, formed of a collection of remains of Incan dwellings, temples and terracing. Enjoy a spot of shopping and practise your bartering skills at the local market before stopping for lunch. The day of touring concludes with a visit to the impressive fortress and citadel of Ollantaytambo. This evening we have a pre departure briefing for the trek that starts tomorrow.

Day 3: Sacred Valley - Lares Trek

This morning from the hotel nearby we drive to the township of Calca then onward passing Inca burial tombs, local farms and herds of wild llama en route. Arriving at the small community of Lares, buy any last minute supplies, before continuing on to Chancachaca for lunch. After two hours of hiking we will arrive at Wacawasi, located at 3800 metres and one of the largest villages of direct descendants of the Incas, will be our first stop. We will see the unspoiled traditional daily activities of the local way of life. Continuing on, we follow the ancient trail to arrive at Sondor; at 4220 metres, this is our first campsite and home for tonight.

Day 4: Lares Trek

Hiking we cross our first high pass of Wacawasiqasi, at 4600m. Following on, we cross the second high pass of Wayruruyoc qasa at 4600m. We see spectacular views of Aruraycocha Lake, situated at 4380m. We also see the surrounding valleys and the Andean farmers dressed in their traditional, brightly coloured ponchos and head-wear, tending their crops and alpaca/llama herds. We will stop for a well-deserved lunch, at Siki estanque at 4120m, then continue on to Pajchayoq, Ruka and Marcacocha and you will be welcomed by many children along the way. Late in the afternoon we will see Inca and pre Inca remains around Hatunayaorqo and Marcacocha arriving at Pallata.

Day 5: Lares Trek - Aguas Calientes

We have an early morning start today as we set off for Ollantaytambo. We stop to visit the dramatic Inca site of Pumamarca. From Pumamarca an original Inca trail carries us down the lush valley among Inca terracing of Tambowaylla, Chuchuna and Media Luna. We arrive in Ollantaytambo in time for lunch and after a quick rest we board the train to the well-known township of Aguas Calientes - our home for tonight. Aguas Calientes is named after its nearby hot springs. There is time here to relax in the soothing pools and there are plenty of restaurants to choose from for dinner.

Day 6: Aguas Calientes - Cuzco

Rising early we take the first bus up to Machu Picchu (5.30am) to beat the thronging crowds which arrive mid morning. If members of your tour group have spent the past three days hiking the Inca Trail Trek, your early arrival will allow time to catch up and share stories of your respective treks before a full guided tour of the archaeological site. You will then have free time to explore this mystical Inca city, perhaps climb the vertiginous Huayna Picchu (Young Mountain) which overlooks the site or visit the Inca Bridge. Returning to Aguas Calientes by bus we then catch the late afternoon train and bus back to Cuzco.

Day 7: Cuzco

Enjoy a day at leisure to explore Cuzco and all it has to offer.

Day 8: Cuzco - Iguazu Falls (Brazil)

This morning we drop you at the airport for your flight to Lima. Upon arrival in Lima you will can catch your onward flight to Iguazu Falls Airport (IGU). FLIGHTS NOT INCLUDED. Arriving here, you will be transferred to the hotel on the Brazilian side.

Day 9: Iguazu Falls (Brazil)

Enjoy a full day tour of the Brazilian side of the falls, walking along catwalks that allow you to see the torrents of water at their most impressive.

Day 10: Iguazu Falls (Brazil)

Enjoy a full day excursion to the Argentinean side of the falls. A number of walking trails are available bringing you in front of or above the rapids. You’ll also see the dramatic Garganta del Diablo or Devil’s Throat, an awe-inspiring display of natural power.

Day 11: Iguazu Falls (Brazil)

Your journey with us has come to an end we will transfer you to IGU Airport for your flight home.
