Day 1: Lima

Bienvenidos a Peru! Welcome to Peru and the start of your journey through the land of the Incas. Upon arrival into Lima International Airport you will be met by one of our representatives and transferred to your hotel. After check in spend some time with our rep discussing your up-coming trip. The remainder of the day is free for you to enjoy at leisure

Day 2: Lima - Puerto Maldonado and the Amazon

A short flight takes us to the jungle community of Puerto Maldonado, the starting point for our journey into the Amazon. From here a bus followed by a motorised canoe ride downriver brings us to our jungle lodge. This afternoon enjoy the first of your included jungle activities which usually entails a walk and canoe trip. (OVERNIGHT AT THE Hacienda Concepción)

Day 3: Puerto Maldonado and the Amazon

During our time in the rainforest we’ll visit Monkey Island, renowned for its great variety of monkey species, as well as birdlife. Trekking through dense jungle and marshland, our guide will point out the various species of bird and plant found in the forest. There will be the chance to take a canoe ride along one of the small lakes hidden away in the jungle. Keep your eyes peeled for caiman and, if you’re lucky, the rare giant otter. Later enjoy the view of the lake and the canopy wildlife from a viewing platform. Spend an afternoon at the Gamitana River where you can try your hand at fishing or simply take a dip. Day 4: Puerto Maldonado and the Amazon - Cuzco

We head back to Puerto Maldonado for our return flight to Cuzco where the rest of the day is free to explore this fascinating ancient capital.

Days 5-6: Cuzco

Make the most of your free time here today and tomorrow exploring amazing churches, colonial buildings and picturesque streets, many of which have Inca walls, arches and doorways. Optional excursions such as white water rafting, horse riding, mountain biking and canoeing are also on offer.

Day 7: Cuzco - Sacred Valley

Leaving the city we explore the Sacred Valley on the way to the ancient village of Urubamba stop to visit Awanacancha, an Andean textile centre where the art of Incan textile is kept alive. Continue to the archaeological complex of Pisac, formed of a collection of remains of Incan dwellings, temples and terracing. Enjoy a spot of shopping and practise your bartering skills at the local market before stopping for lunch. The day of touring concludes with a visit to the impressive fortress and citadel of Ollantaytambo.

Day 8: Sacred Valley - Aguas Calientes

Today we further explore the Sacred Valley with visits to Andean villages south of the Río Urubamba. See the lovely paintings from the Cuzco School on display in the attractive colonial church of Chinchero. Continue to Maras where the original Indian aristocratic coats of arms hang on the outside of the church and houses. From here you can also see the salt evaporation ponds, a patchwork of 3,000 wells that have been used since the Incan Empire. Continue to the spectacular agricultural terraces of Moray. Enjoy lunch at a local restaurant before transferring to the train station for a stunning train journey to Aguas Calientes.

Day 9: Aguas Calientes

Today we embark on an excursion to explore the citadel of Machu Pichu and the wonderful Temple of the Sun and magical Temple of the Moon on a three hour guided excursion. Other highlights include the fascinating Sacred Plaza and the elaborately carved Intihuatana rock.

Day 10: Aguas Calientes - Cuzco

The day allows for free time to wander around Machu Pichu before you return by train to Cusco.

Day 11: Cuzco

Today is at leisure in Cuzco.

Day 12: Cuzco - Puno

Passing hot mineral pools, snow capped mountains and traditional Native Indian villages where locals sell their wares, we leave Cuzco ON PUBLIC BUS and head to the shores of Lake Titicaca. Arriving at the compact town of Puno you will meet our local rep who awaits to take you to your hotel.

Day 13: Puno

After breakfast board a yacht from Puno port for a shared cruise and tour around the floating islands of Uros. Inhabited by fishermen and hunters, these beautiful islands are made from totora reeds and were built in order to escape the imposition of invading cultures. Your cruise continues to the genuine island of Amantani renowned for the fine crafts made by inhabitants. After lunch visit archaeological ruins and soak up the immensity of Lake Titicaca – the world’s highest navigable lake – from the beautiful beaches that line Taquile’s shore. Later return to Puno.

Day 14: Puno - Lima

Our representative will meet you this morning and transfer you to Juliaca airport for your flight to Lima. Here you will be met by another of our representatives who will transfer you to your hotel.

Day 15: Lima

Discover why Lima has historically been such an important city with a scheduled sightseeing tour that covers Lima’s most impressive colonial buildings as well as a number of fascinating museums. The afternoon is free for you to explore Lima further.

Day 16: Lima - Nasca

This morning we will take you to the bus station to catch the comfortable public bus to Nazca home to the famous Nazca Lines. The journey is lovely passing coastal areas, and the main grape growing region of Peru called Ica. Arriving into Nazca after 7 hours meet our driver who will take you to the hotel nearby the airstrip.

Day 17: Nasca

This morning very early our rep will take you across to the airstrip for your included light aircraft flight over the lines, the pilot does various maneuvers so that you can see them at there best, the flight lasts around 45 minutes. Later in the day you have time to visit the underground aqueducts, gold mines and ceramic shops, and the extraordinary Chauchilla Cemetery where you can see the ancient mummies which still have skin and hair intact.

Day 18: Nasca - Lima

This morning we return to the bus station for the journey back to Lima. Arriving here, we take you to your hotel for your last night in Peru.

Day 19: Lima

Sadly your journey has come to an end, we will transfer you to the airport in time for your flight home.
