Great Wall

Day 1: Beijing

Welcome to China and the start of your holiday! Enjoy an arrival transfer to our hotel, where you sit back and relax after your long flight.

Forbidden City

Day 2: Beijing

Today we explore the heart of Beijing including the vast Tiananmen Square where Chairman Mao’s tomb is located. Dominating the city’s heart is the Forbidden City, a centre of power for five centuries and seat of the emperors. Entering through the Gate of Heavenly Peace, we enjoy a guided walk of this old city within a city.

Day 3: Beijing

Today we drive out of the city to Badaling, where we can walk a section of the Great Wall. Some sections are fairly steep, but the walk on the vast wall is one of those ‘must do’ experiences! We visit the tombs of the Ming emperors and a cloisonne workshop, where we’ll see firsthand the unique Chinese art of combining copper and enamel.

Summer Palace

Day 4: Beijing - Xi'an

We have a guided visit to the Silk Alley markets and the Summer Palace with its UNESCO-listed imperial gardens, located on Kunming Lake. Overnight train to Xi’an.

Day 5: Xi'an

Discovered in 1974 by local farmers digging a well, the 2,200 year old Terracotta Warriors comprise more than 7,000 life-sized soldiers standing battle-ready in excavated pits under the cover of a modern protective hanger. Today, we visit the archaeological site of the Terracotta Warriors, Huanqing Hot Springs and a workshop where clay warrior replicas are made.

Day 6: Xi'an - Beijing

Today, we visit the city symbol, the Big Wild Goose Pagoda, before enjoying a leisurely bike ride on Xi’an’s medieval City Wall, which dates from the Ming dynasty. We then visit the local Muslim Quarter and Great Mosque. Later, we board the overnight train to Beijing

Day 7: Beijing - Seoul

We will meet you at the train station and transfer you to the airport for the flight to Seoul. On arrival in Seoul we will transfer you to the airport.

Day 8: Seoul

Enjoy a tour of Seoul’s most famous landmarks today. After driving around Blue House - the presidential residence of Korea, visit the beautifully ornate Gyeongbokgung Palace. Proceed to National Folk Museum located in grounds of the palace. Next stop is the enchanting Buddhist temple of Jogyesa, which is the headquarters of the Jogye sect. Enjoy a leisurely walk through Insadong and along the picturesque Cheonggycheon Stream. The final stop is the lofty Seoul Tower located on Mt.Namsa.

Day 9: Seoul - Andong

This morning travel to Andong which is considered the spiritual home of Korea as well as the cradle of Korea’s cultural tradition. Enjoy an afternoon tour of Andong which includes the charming UNESCO Listed Hahoe Folk Village, where approximately 130 traditional houses of varying size and standard have been immaculately preserved by the same families for generations. Also visit the Andong Folk Museum which has several interesting exhibits relating mainly to Korea's folk traditions, the ritual standards of Confucianism and folk plays.

Day 10: Andong - Gyeongju

Travel on to Gyeongju today. Serving as the capital of Silla Kingdom from 57BC to 935AD, the entire city of Gyeongju is a living museum containing the remnants of the Silla Kingdom. Your afternoon tour of Gyeongju includes visits to Gyeongju National Museum which is home to the 23ton Emille Bell cast in AD771 and numerous priceless treasures; Tumuli Park, with its collection of Silla royal tombs; Cheomseongdae Observatory, one the world’s oldest astronomical observatories and the scenic Anapji Pond where the Silla royal family spent their leisure time.

Day 11: Gyeongju - Seoul

This morning visit two magnificent UNESCO World Heritage Listed temples - Seokguram Grotto, one of the Asia’s finest Buddhist shrines, surrounded by Bodhisattva, disciples, devas and the guardian king; Bulguksa Temple which was built during the glorious period of Silla Kingdom. The architectural design of Bulguksa Temple is one of constrained dignity and peaceful harmony and the temple still remains one of the most remarkable achievements of the ancient Far East. Depart for Seoul this afternoon and spend your final evening at leisure.

Day 12: Seoul

After breakfast and hotel check out, transfer to the airport for your flight home
