Sample the delights of neighbouring Thailand and Laos on this adventure that takes you from thriving Bangkok to alluring Luang Prabang via the northern hill tribes of Chiang Rai with plenty of temples, longtail boats and elephants along the way!

Days 1 - 2: Discover Bangkok
Wednesday. Welcome to Thailand!. Included transfer to your hotel in the pulsating capital of Bangkok. Evening Welcome Meeting held. The next day we embark on a city tour beginning with the impressive Grand Palace housing the Jade Buddha. We continue to Wat Pho, the original Thai Massage School and the 24hr Flower Market. Afterwards we board longtail boats for a trip along the city’s canals gliding past stitled houses, pretty temples and locals going about their daily business. We disembark a short walk away from backpackers’ favourite haunt – Khao San Road, where cafes, bars, buskers, tailors and market stalls line the virbant streets. Overnight - Bangkok (B:1)

Days 3 - 4: Chiang Mai & Chaing Rai
Bangkok - Chiang Mai - Chiang Rai. On the morning of day 3 we transfer to the airport for our flight to Chiang Mai, blessed with a temperate climate and lush vegetation. After time to freshen up we set off for Doi Suthep temple and the Hilltribe Museum. Later this evening our trip to the night market offers the chance to sample many delicious regional dishes. After hotel check out on day 4 we journey through stunning karst scenery and verdant jungle to Ta Thon where we board longtail boats for a trip on the River Kok. Sit back and relax with scenes of rural Thai life along the banks. Disembarking at a small village we enjoy an elephant ride through the surrounding countryside before visiting Wat Rhon Khung, a unique temple displaying scenes from popular movies! Arriving into Chiang Rai we head to the night market for dinner at a local restaurant. Overnight - Chiang Mai (1) Chiang Rai (1) (B:2)

Day 5: Hill tribes & Opium Museum
Chiang Rai - Chiang Khong. Today we explore hill tribe villages visiting the famous Longneck tribe and the border frontier town of Mae Sai. Our touring continues with Chiang Saen, part of Thailand’s ‘Golden Triangle’, and the interesting Opium Museum. We then follow a road along the Mekong to arrive at the border town of Chiang Kong. Days 6 - 7: Cruising the Mekong
Monday. Chiang Khong - Pakbeng - Luang Prabang. It’s an early start on day 6 as we head to immigration to cross into Laos. Meeting our Lao guide on the other side we board a longtail boat for our scenic Mekong cruise to Pak Beng for overnight. On day 7 we continue our cruise to Luang Prabang. Arriving in the afternoon, enjoy the rest of the day at leisure. Overnight - Pakbeng (1), Luang Prabang (1) (B:2, L:2, D:1)
Day 8: Temples of Luang Prabang
Consider rising early to witness the daily giving of alms before our morning tour of this enchanting city including Wat Visoun, the banyan tree graced grounds of Wat Aham and the former Royal Palace. In the afternoon we stop at ethnic minority villages before arriving at the beautiful Khouangsi waterfall for a pleasurable dip. Overnight - Luang Prabang (B)

Days 9 - 10: Wat Sene & Wat Xieng Thong
Enjoy a visit to the holy sites of Wat Sene and the magnificent Wat Xieng Thong. A boat ride upstream brings us to the mysterious Pak Ou caves, crammed with Buddha statues that overlook the Mekong. Day 10 is a free day for you to enjoy Luang Prabang at leisure. For the adventurous we can help organise elephant rides, cycling and kayaking. Overnight - Luang Prabang (B:2, L:1)
Day 11: Luang Prabang
Saturday. Our tour concludes after breakfast with a departure transfer. (B)
