Welcome to Burma. Upon arrival at Yangon International Airport, our local guide will welcome you and assist with the transfer to your hotel. The rest of the day is free to relax. Overnight at Summit Parkview Hotel.
After breakfast, we transfer you to airport for flight to Bagan. Upon arrival, your English speaking guide will welcome you and then you will drive directly to Salay, with a short stop on the way to study Toddy farmer's life such as collecting toddy wine, making molasses and handmade oil. Your Salay visit will include the Yoke-son Monastery, decorated with wood-carvings depicting scenes for moral lessons. We then take a short walk through the ruined old monastery to the lacquerware Buddha image and the ancient monastery. We continue onto Mount Popa, an extinct volcano, which is the abode of Nats (Spirits). On top of the mountain, there are monasteries, pagodas and shrines in different style. Bagan has over 2000 pagodas and temples represent Myanmar cultural heritage of the 11th-13th century AD. Highlights today include the stunning Shwezigone Pagoda, Ananda Temple, Kyansittha Umin, a small tunnel with 13th century mural painting; Gubyaukgyi Temple built by Prince Rajakuma, and the colourful Nyaung Oo market. After lunch, we visit a lacquerware industry to see how this is produced. We then visit Bagan’s most massive shrines, Damayangyi Temple, extending approximately 255 feet on each of its four sides, and Thatbyinnyut Pagoda, the tallest in Bagan at almost 200ft. We finish today’s touring on the terrace of the Shwesandaw Pagoda with a great view of the sunset over Bagan.
This morning we fly onto Mandalay, and head to Amarapura to visit Mahagandaryone Monastery. Each day about 1000 monks queue up for their meal of the day. We then enjoy the great serenity the U Bein Wooden Bridge, constructed in 1849 and about three quarter of a mile long. See the Mahar Myat Muni Buddha Image, before we visit the local handicraft workshops such as bronze sculpture, gold leaf beating and marble stone carving. This afternoon we visit Mya Nan San Kyaw Palace and Shwenandaw Monastery, noted for its exquisite wood carvings. Finish the tour by visiting Mandalay Hill, the natural watch-tower for the visitors to watch sunset over the city plains. Overnight at the Ayarwarddy Riverview Hotel.
After a flight to Heho, we transfer to picturesque Pindaya, located on the shores of Lake Pindaya to explore its remarkable caves which contain over 9000 Buddha statues before driving on to Nyaung Shwe. We also have a short stop at the 250 year old Bayan Trees, a Mulberry papermaking factory and a Bamboo hat making factory. We then drive to Nyaung Shwe to transfer to the Hupin Khaung Daing Hotel by boat for hotel check in.
Today discover the delights of beautiful Lake Inle on a boat trip. See the stilted houses and various cottage industries of the Intha people and visit the famous Paungdaw Oo Pagoda.
This morning we visit Indein Pagoda and village, an incredible collection of weathered stupas dating back to the 13th century. Passing Nyaung Ohak Monastery, we follow a stair path lined up with many hundreds of wooden columns, you will reach the impressive Shwe Indein Pa-O complex where you can enjoy a great view over the lake area. On the way back to the boat, walk through a romantic bamboo forest at the riverside, where you may observe local people having a bath, visit Myaynigone village and a Lotus fibre weaving factory.
After breakfast, morning transfer to Heho airport for your flight back to Yangon. Upon arrival in Yangon, transfer to your hotel for check in before we head out for sightseeing including Chaukhtatkyi Pagoda, housing the fourth largest colossal reclining Buddha; Kabar Aye Pagoda, which is significant for its Sixth Synod which was held in its large compound in 1954; Mahapasana Cave, located in the same compound and then photo stop at the heart of Yangon such as Sule Pagoda, Maha Bandoola Park, City Hall, the High Court and many other colonial style buildings. This evening we visit the magnificent Shwedagon pagoda, a landmark of Myanmar and one of the greatest wonders of the world.
After breakfast and hotel check out, we will transfer you to the airport for your flight home.
