Welcome to Siem Reap. Upon arrival you will be transferred to the hotel. Siem Reap is the gateway to Cambodia’s vast and spectacular Angkor Temple Complex, which is undoubtedly one of the world's greatest archaeological sites. Within the legendary 'lost city of the Khmers' there are over a thousand temples, ranging from piles of rubble to the magnificent and iconic Angkor Wat - the world's largest religious building. Other key sites in the complex include jungle submerged Ta Prohm Temple which features in the film ‘Tomb Raider’ and the Bayon Temple with its giant stone carved faces. Later this evening you will have the opportunity to see a traditional Apsara dance performance and dinner at Angkor Village.
Today morning you will visit the Temples of the Forest. You can take your time walking from the west entrance to the east entrance. Later you can take a much needed break at the Ta Nei temple before further exploring. This evening you will visit Angkor Thom the last capital of the Angkorian Empire – Angkor Thom. This monumental fortified city is encircled by a 100m wide moat and is famed for the huge statue heads that glare down from every angle.
Today you rise early to witness the sunrise and breathtaking views over the Angkor Wat temple.
In the morning explore Beng Mealea, a spectacular jungle temple around 60 Kms drive to the north east of Siem Reap. It is one of the "new" highlights of Cambodia. Approached by four causeways, Beng Mealea appears to be a huge pile of rubble partially hidden in the trees, it's not until you get closer to the high walls that the ancient Khmer Architecture reveals itself. This evening you have the opportunity to enjoy a relaxing massage at the fabulous Bodia Spa.
Today morning you will be transferred to the airport where you will board a flight to Phnom Penh. Upon arriving in Phnom Penh you will be transferred to your hotel. This evening you will go on a private sunset boat cruise on Sisowath Quay(weather permitting)on the Tonle Sap and Mekong rivers.
Today you will explore the recent dark history of Cambodia on a visit to the Tuol Sleng Museum of Genocide. The museum is housed in the former school that was taken over by the Khmer Rouge and used as its main detention and torture centre. Continue to the infamous ‘Killing Fields’ of Choeung Ek. This will also provide you an insight of the brutality of the regime. Later this afternoon you will go on a tour of the bustling city of Phnom Penh.
Today you will travel to Sihanoukville by road. A port city located on a small peninsula with beaches and tropical islands off its south and west coast and a commercial port to the north west. Beaches that line the west contour of the city from north to south are Victory Beach, Lamherkay Beach, Koh Pos Beach, Independence Beach, Sokha Beach, Serendipity Beach, Occheuteal Beach and Otres Beach. The most popular beaches are Occheuteal, Sokha, Independence and Victory.
