Day 1: Sigiriya

Welcome to Sri Lanka ad the start of your holiday! We will be there to meet you at the airport and transfer you through to your hotel.

Day 2: Sigiriya

Today we enjoy a sightseeing tour of Polonnaruwa - The second most ancient of Sri Lanka's kingdoms and was first declared the capital city by King Vijayabahu I, who defeated the Chola invaders in 1070 CE to reunite the country once more under a local leader. This city is known to have been the pinnacle of the Golden Age of Sri Lanka, with the development of an irrigation system which is still utilized to this day. We then climb the Sigiriya Rock Fortress - a world heritage site, built by King Kashyapa (477-495 AD). The ‘Lion Rock’ was the innermost stronghold of the 70 hectare fortified town. We will also see the world-renowned frescoes of the ‘Heavenly Maidens’.

Day 3: Sigiriya - Kandy

Breakfast at hotel – Leave for Kandy - En route visit the Dambulla Rock temple - Climb up to the temple, which was donated by king Walagambahu in the 1st century BC to Buddhist monks. Dambulla is a World Heritage site and is the most impressive of Sri Lanka's cave temples. This afternoon we visit a spice garden in Matale to see the different spices and shown how some of these spices are grown and processed, which Sri Lanka is famous for. Continue to Kandy Check in at Hotel Topaz 3 - (Standard Room). This evening we visit the Temple of the Tooth Relic and thereafter witness a cultural show featuring traditional Sri Lankan dancing.

Day 4: Kandy - Nuwara Eliya

Today we depart for Nuwara Eliya - En route we explore a tea plantation and a tea factory, where the best tea in the world is produced. You will be told all about the process of manufacturing tea. You can also see how tea is graded. Taste a cup of pure Ceylon tea in the factory. We then proceed to Nuwara Eliya, with its invigorating mountain climate and scenery, is Sri Lanka’s most popular hill resort. Nuwara Eliya is also the heart of Sri Lanka’s tea country producing a significant share of the world’s best tea. Sri Lanka’s highest mountain Pidurutalagala (8282 feet) is located here.

Day 5: Nuwara Eliya - Galle

Driving onto Sinharaja - Covering 8900 hectares of breathtaking beautiful and continuous forest. Beautiful Streams, springs, rivers, waterfalls, leopard, monkeys, butterflies and moths, rare trees, valuable shrubs and medicinal herbs are all found within its green canopy. A trek along the Sinharaja paths would provide nature enthusiast a never to be forgotten experience of sights and sounds and feelings. Due to its high bio-diversity and ecological importance, it has been declared as a National Heritage Wilderness Area and it is the only natural World Heritage Site (declared by UNESCO) in the country.

Day 6: Galle

This morning visit Galle Fort - Built first by the Portuguese, and then modified by the Dutch during the 17th century. Today, after 400 years of existence, it still looks new, with reconstruction work done by the Archaeological Department of Sri Lanka. Today, the Sri Lankan government and many Dutch people who still own some of the properties inside the fort are looking at making this one of the modern wonders of the world. We then bid you farewell with a transfer to the airport to meet your onward flight.
