Welcome to Chennai and the start of your Indian Adventure. Upon arrival you will be met by our local representatives and transferred to your accommodation. Enjoy the rest of the day at your leisure. Overnight Chennai.

Day 2: Chennai - Mahabalipuram

This morning you enjoy a half days sightseeing of Chennai. Sightseeing will include the Government Museum, Santhome Cathedral Church, Kapaleshwara Temple and Marina Beach. In the afternoon we depart and drive to Mahabalipuram. Hotel check in and evening at leisure. Overnight Mahabalipuram

Day 3: Mahabalipuram

Enjoy a tour of Mahabalipuram and Kanchi Puram Temples today. Mahabalipuram is one of history's intriguing enigmas. The ancient Mamallapuram, as Mahabalipuram was formerly known, was a flourishing port town of the Pallava rulers of south India, who chiseled in stone a fabulous "open-air museum" of sculpture. Experts say that there were seven pagodas or temples on the shores of Mahabalipuram. All but one were pillaged by the rapacious sea, though there is little underwater evidence that suggest they ever existed. Overnight Mahabalipuram.

Day 4: Mahabalipuram - Pondicherry

Leaving Mahabalipuram you will drive to Pondicherry. En Route you visit Vedantangal Bird Sanctuary (with out Guide). Afterwards continue to Pondicherry where you will spend the night. Overnight Pondicherry.

Day 5: Pondicherry

This morning enjoy a tour of Pondicherry. Settled in the early 18th century by the French, Pondicherry on the Bay of Bengal in the state of Tamil Nadu has a Gallic flavour. Relinquished by the French in 1954, the town became the headquarters of the Union Territory of Pondicherry, administering three other former French enclaves scattered across South India. There is, however, an enduring legacy of the Gallic rule. The first French governor Dupleix designed Pondicherry’s street plan, which still today consists of a central grid encircled by a broad oblong boulevard. Overnight Pondicherry.

Day 6: Pondicherry - Tanjore

Continuing south, you’ll arrive at Tanjore. Also known as Thanjavur, Tanjore is an ancient fortified town, with a glorious history dating back more than 1500 years. Thanjavur was the ancient capital of the Chola kings whose origins date back to the beginning of Christianity. En route we visit the Temples at Kumbakonam. Overnight Tanjore

Day 7: Tanjore

Today enjoy a guided morning sightseeing tour of Tanjore. Tamil Nadu’s most awesome Chola monument is located in Thanjavur. Built by Raja Raja in 1010, the UNESCO World Heritage Listed Brihadishwara Temple dominates Thanjavur’s skyline. The dome at the top of the apex of the approximately 63-m high temple is allegedly a single piece of granite weighing an estimated 80 tonnes, which was hauled into place along an earth ramp in a manner similar to that used for the construction of the Pyramids of Giza. Day 8: Tanjore - Trichy

This morning drive to Trichy. Located in the state of Tamil Nadu, the history of Trichy, now less simply known as Tiruchirappalli goes back to before the Christian era when it was an important Chola citadel. This afternoon include a city tour of Trichy and also visit Srirangam Temple one of the most interesting and largest temples in all of India. Dedicated to Lord Vishnu, the temple complex is staggeringly large and very lively, thanks to the sheer number of pilgrims who flock to the revered site. Overnight Trichy.

Day 9: Trichy - Madurai

Your journey continues south to Madurai. An important centre for worship and commerce, Madurai has been around since the dawn of civilisation in southern India. A bustling city jam-packed with rickshawallas, pilgrims and traders and resembling a seemingly continuous bazaar crammed to the gunnels with shops, markets and lodgings for tourists and pilgrims, Madurai is yours this afternoon. Go immerse yourself. This evening, you’ll witness a religious ceremony at a local temple. Overnight Madurai.

Day 10: Madurai

After breakfast proceed on a morning tour of this city to see the sights as well as a visit to Meenakshi Temple. Enjoy the afternoon at your leisure. Overnight Madurai.

Day 11: Madurai - Thekkady

Travel to Thekkady today. Thekkady is a very appealing town in the state of Kerala in India's south. Thekkady is enchanting as the road winds through tranquill countryside, rich plantations & thick jungles. The sanctuary, 60 km from Idukki, 190 km from Cochin and 114 km away from Kottayam is open throughout the year , but the best season for a visit is from September to March. Day 12: Thekkady

This morning enjoy a nature walk in the Park. It is possible to book and pay locally an optional boat ride in Lake Periyar (subject to availability and operational schedules). This evening you will soak in the sights and smells of one of the local areas Spice Plantations. Overnight Thekkady.

Days 13-14: Thekkady - Munnar

Today you leave Thekkady and drive to Munnar where you spend the rest of today and all of tomorrow exploring Munnar at you own leisure independently. Overnight Munnar.

Days 15-17: Munnar - Alleppey

Continue to Alleppey where you will Board Malabar Escape House Boat where you will spend the next couple of days enjoying this back water experience. Overnight On board house boat.

Day 18: Alleppey - Kochi

Finally disembarking you back water experience you will be driven to Kochi. This afternoon enjoy an city tour and this evening witness the Kathakali Dance Show (without guide). Overnight Kochi.

Days 19-20: Kochi

The next two days are spent at your leisure exploring this city your way. Overnight Kochi.

Day 21: Kochi - Negombo

Sadly your time with us in India has come to an end as you are transferred to the airport for your flight to Sri Lanka (FLIGHT NOT INCLUDED). Upon arrival into Sri Lanka you will be met by our local representatives and transferred to your hotel. Enjoy the rest of the day at your leisure. Overnight Negombo.

Day 22: Negombo - Anuradhapura

Leave for Anuradhapura via Puttlam we visit Anuradhapura. It was the first capital and undoubtedly the grandest city of the ancient Sri Lanka, It is the home of two World Heritage sites. Sri Maha Bodhi (Sacred Bo-Tree) and is the oldest historically documented tree. At Brazen Palace, is left of a magnificent multi-storied residence. Ruwanweliseya is the most famous of all the Dagobas. Samadhi' Buddha statue is one of the most famous statues, depicting the Buddha in a state of deep meditation. Thuparama Dagoba is the oldest Dagoba in the island, which enshrines the right collarbone of the Buddha. Return to Hotel for overnight stay. Overnight Anuradhapura.

Day 23: Anuradhapura - Sigiriya

After breakfast you leave for Sigiriya. This afternoon Climb the 5th century Sigiriya rock fortress which is a world heritage site, built by King Kashyapa (477-495 AD). The ‘Lion Rock’ is a citadel of unusual beauty rising 200 meters from the scrub jungle. The rock was the innermost stronghold of the 70 hectare fortified town. A moat, rampart, and extensive gardens including the renowned water gardens ring the base of the rock. Visit the world-renowned frescoes of the ‘Heavenly Maidens’ of Sigiriya, which are in a sheltered pocket of the rock approached by a spiral stairway. These frescoes are painted in earth pigments on plaster. Overnight Sigiriya

Day 24: Sigiriya

This morning leave for Polonnaruwa. Polonnaruwa was the 2nd capital city of Sri Lanka, and a world heritage site. Here you can see the ruins of the Royal Palace, the Gal Viharaya – where 4 splendid statues of the Buddha in ‘Upright’, ‘Sedentary’ and ‘Recumbent’ postures carved out of rock, the Audience Hall, the Lotus Bath, king Parakramabahu’s statue, and the Parakrama Samudraya lake built by King Parakramabahu the great. There are also monuments of famous places of worship such as the Shiva Temple, the Lankathilake, the Watadage, the Galpotha, the Kiri Vehera and the remains of a former Temple of the Tooth Relic. This afternoon visit Minneriya National Park by safari jeep. Overnight Sigiriya

Day 25: Sigiriya - Kandy

Continuing to Kandy en route visit Dambulla Rock Temple. Climb up to the temple. Dambulla is a World Heritage site and is the most impressive of Sri Lanka’s cave temples. The complex of five caves with over 2000 sq. meters of painted walls and the ceiling is the largest area of paintings found in the world. These caves contain over 150 images of the Buddha of which the largest is the colossal figure of the Buddha carved out of rock spanning 14 meters and a spice garden in Matale, to see the different spices, which Sri Lanka is famous for. You will be introduced to different spices and shown how some of these spices are grown and processes. Enjoy the rest of the day at leisure. Overnight Kandy.

Day 26: Kandy

Enjoy a wonderful excursion to the elephant orphanage in Pinnawela today. This orphanage is the home for about 60 elephants, out of which some are baby elephants found abandoned or orphaned in the wild. Afterwards visit Peradeniya Botanical Gardens. Back in the scenic lakeside town of Kandy, embark upon a sightseeing tour, visiting the bazaar, the arts & crafts centre and a gem museum. In the evening, visit the Temple of the Tooth Relic and then enjoy a cultural show featuring traditional Sri Lankan dancing. Overnight - Kandy

Day 27: Kandy - Nuwara Eliya

Today you travel to Nuwara Eliya. After hotel check in enjoy the rest of the day at your leisure. Overnight Nuwara Eliya.

Day 28: Nuwara Eliya

Enjoy today at your leisure alternatively why not head out and visit one of the local Tea Factories that surround the area. Overnight Nuwara Eliya.

Days 29-31: Nuwara Eliya - Galle

Continue today towards the coastal town of Galle. Enjoy the next couple of days at your leisure exploring this area your way. Overnight Galle.

Day 32: Galle - Colombo

Returning back to Colombo enjoy an afternoon sightseeing Tour driving through the Commercial area of the “ Fort” so named, because both the Portuguese and Dutch had a Fort at this point. Drive passed “Pettah” – a noisy Oriental bazaar with a hotchpotch of Humanity, ancient vehicles, bargains, mosques & temples. Visit Hindu temple & drive pass Jumi-UL Alfar Jumma Mosque, Continue the tour through the Wolvendaal Dutch Church, Hultsdorf Law courts, to the residential area of Cinnamon Gardens and on to the Independence Square and Bandaranayke Memorial International Conference Hall. Overnight Colombo.

Day 33: Colombo

Sadly your time with us has come to an end as your are transferred to the airport in time for your departure flight to your onward destination.
