Day 1: Colombo - Giritale

Welcome to Sri Lanka and the start of your holiday! Upon arrival you will be met by our local represenatives and transferred to a hotel in Negombo so you can get some sleep. After breakfast leave for Giritale. This Evening proceed on a sightseeing tour of Polonnaruwa - which was the 2nd capital city of Sri Lanka. Here you can see the ruins of the Royal Palace, the Gal Viharaya – where 4 splendid statues of the Buddha in ‘Upright’, ‘Sedentary’ and ‘Recumbent’ postures carved out of rock. There are also monuments of famous places of worship such as the Shiva Temple, the Lankathilake, the Watadage, the Galpotha, the Kiri Vehera and the remains of a former Temple of the Tooth Relic Overnight - Giritale

Day 2: Giritale

Breakfast at hotel – Proceed to Sigiriya - Climb the 5th century Sigiriya rock fortress which is a world heritage site, built by King Kashyapa (477-495 AD). The ‘Lion Rock’ is a citadel of unusual beauty rising 200 meters from the scrub jungle. The rock was the innermost stronghold of the 70 hectare fortified town. A moat, rampart, and extensive gardens including the renowned water gardens ring the base of the rock. Visit the world-renowned frescoes of the ‘Heavenly Maidens’ of Sigiriya, which are in a sheltered pocket of the rock approached by a spiral stairway. These frescoes are painted in earth pigments on plaster. Overnight Giritale.

Day 3: Giritale - Kandy

Giritale - Kandy. En route to Kandy, visit Dambulla Rock temple, situated in a cave and view the painted walls and ceilings comprising of over 150 images of the Buddha. See the colossal figure of the Buddha carved out of rock and spanning 14 metres. Next head to the spice garden in Matale to learn about how the spices are grown. In the evening visit the splendid Temple of the Tooth Relic, afterwards enjoy a cultural show featuring traditional Sri Lankan dancing. Overnight - Kandy

Day 4: Kandy - Colombo

Today visit Pinnewala Elephant Orphanage, home to 60 elephants. If you visit at feeding time you can see the baby elephants being fed, afterwards head to the river to see them taking their daily bath! Next admire the Royal Botanical gardens in Peradeniya - 147 acres of flowers, trees and plants. Continuing, enjoy a city tour of Kandy, visit the town, bazaar, arts and crafts centre, a gem museum and alapidary. Afterwards head to Colombo. Overnight - Colombo

Days 5-9: Colombo - The Maldives

Transfer to the airport on day 5 for your flight to Male (note: flight not included in the package). Upon arrival in Male you will be met at the airport and transferred to the resort by speedboat, the rest of the day is free for you to relax in paradise! Enjoy a further four blissful days relaxing on the white sands, swimming, snorkelling and admiring the sparkling seas. There’s so much to do - why not take a glass bottom boat ride, go reef diving, fishing, surfing or just laze about in the sun. Overnight - Maldives

Day 10: The Maldives

Transfer back to Male airport for your onward flight.
