Day 1: Habarana

Welcome to Sri Lanka! Upon arrival at Colombo Airport, you will be met by your guide and driver and transferred directly to Habarana, approximately 3 hours drive from Colombo. Here we will assist with hotel check in, and you then have the rest of the day free to relax after your long flight. Overnight: Jo's Bungalow Hotel

Day 2: Habarana

After breakfast, we drive to Sigiriya to climb to the 5th century rock fortress. The ‘Lion Rock’ is a citadel of unusual beauty rising 200 meters from the scrub jungle, and was the innermost stronghold of the 70 hectare fortified town. We then visit Polonnaruwa, the 2nd capital city of Sri Lanka, and a world heritage site. In the late afternoon we visit Minneriya National Park to see the beautiful flora and fauna, and of course, the wildlife, including elephants, Purple-faced Langur and Toque Macaque. This is also has an abundance of large water birds. Overnight: Jo's Bungalow Hotel

Day 3: Habarana - Kandy

Today we leave for Kandy, enroute visiting the Dambulla Rock Temple, a World Heritage site and is the most impressive of Sri Lanka’s cave temples. The complex of five caves with over 2000 sq. metres of painted walls and the ceiling is the largest area of paintings found in the world. We also stop in Matale to see the different spices which Sri Lanka is famous for. You will be introduced to different spices and shown how some of these spices are grown and processed. Arriving in Kandy, you check into your hotel. Overnight: Hotel Thilanka

Day 4: Kandy

Today we visit the elephant orphanage in Pinnawela. This orphanage is the home for about 89 elephants, out of which some are baby elephants found abandoned or orphaned in the wild. After spend the full morning with the elephants, we return to Kandy to visit the Peradeniya Botanical Gardens. It is 147 acres and provides an amazing variety of trees, plants and flowers. We also drive around Kandy Lake built by the last Sinhala King Sri Wickrama Rajasinghe in 1798. In the evening we visit the Temple of the Tooth Relic and then enjoy a cultural show featuring traditional Sri Lankan dancing. Overnight: Hotel Thilanka

Day 5: Kandy - Nuwara Eliya

This morning we visit a tea plantation and a tea factory, where the best tea in the world is produced. You will be told all about the process of manufacturing tea and also see how tea is graded. We then continue onto Nuwara Eliya, Sri Lanka’s most popular hill resort and home of the highest mountain, Pidurutalagala (8282 feet). We check in and after some free time, enjoy an evening sightseeing tour of Nuwara Eliya, drive through "Little England” before returning to the hotel. Overnight: Green Hills

Day 6: Nuwara Eliya - Colombo

After breakfast, we leave for Wattala, on route visiting Kithulgala, the location for the academy award winning film Bridge over the River Kwai. Late this afternoon we check into the hotel for your final night in Sri Lanka. Overnight: Pegasus Reef Hotel

Day 7: Colombo

Today you bid farewell to Sri Lanka. We will transfer you to the airport in time for your flight home.
