Day 1: Colombo

Welcome to Sri Lanka and the start of your holiday! Arrive Colombo, included transfer to hotel. Tonight, enjoy Sri Lankan cuisine at our Welcome Dinner.

Day 2: Colombo

Proceed on sightseeing Tour of Colombo driving through the Commercial area of the “Fort” so named, because both the Portuguese and Dutch had a Fort at this point. Drive passed “Pettah” – a noisy Oriental bazaar with a hotchpotch of Humanity, ancient vehicles, bargains, mosques & temples. Visit Hindu temple & drive pass Jumi-UL Alfar Jumma Mosque, Continue the tour through the Wolvendaal Dutch Church, Hultsdorf Law courts, to the residential area of Cinnamon Gardens and on to the Independence Square and Bandaranayake Memorial International Conference Hall – On completion return to hotel for Dinner and overnight stay.

Day 3: Colombo - Anuradhapura

En route to Anuradhapura, we visit 13th century Dambadeniya, once a royal capital. Its principal surviving ruins are the Dalada Maligawa temple and the Dagoba, locally revered thanks to some corporeal relics of Buddha it is said to contain. We also visit Panduvas Nuwara which features a well-preserved walled citadel, Padeniya, Arankele and the rock fortress of Yapahuwa.Rest of the day at leisure – Dinner and Overnight stay at the hotel.

Day 4: Anuradhapura

Today, we visit Anuradhapura, the fascinating ancient city and one of Sri Lanka’s most important archaeological sites. It contains vast artificial lakes, temples, statues including the Samadhi Buddha, dagobas (solid hemispheres topped with spires), royal baths and museums. We also visit the holy Sri Maha Bodhi tree under which Prince Siddharta attained enlightenment. It is also the oldest historically documented tree on earth. – Dinner and Overnight stay at the hotel.

Day 5: Anuradhapura - Giritale

En route to Giritale, we visit the stunning Aukana Buddha statue and the impressive Dambulla Rock Temple which contain beautiful frescoes of Buddha. Then we visit ancient Polonnaruwa, an 11th century city of compact size. We explore the ruins of the Royal Palace, temples and Gal Vihara which boasts 3 enormous Buddha figures.

Day 6: Giritale - Kandy

To Sigiriya – the elevated and mysterious 5th century fortress ruins of King Kasyapa. The ‘Lion Rock’ is a citadel of unusual beauty rising 200 metres from the scrub jungle. Visit the world-renowned frescoes of the ‘Heavenly Maidens’ of Sigiriya, which are in a sheltered pocket of the rock approached by a spiral stairway. On completion leave for Kandy – En route visit a spice garden in Matale to see the different spices, which Sri Lanka is famous for. You will be introduced to different spices and shown how some of these spices are grown and processed.

Day 7: Kandy

Today, we visit the elephant orphanage in Pinnawela, home to around 60 elephants. Continuing, we visit the ruined temples of Embekke, Gadaladeniya and Lankatilleke and the Peradeniya Botanical Gardens. Back in Kandy, a scenic lakeside town, we visit the lake, bazaar, gem museum and lapidary. Tonight, we visit the Temple of the Tooth Relic. After, we enjoy a cultural dance show.

Day 8: Kandy - Nuwara Eliya

Departing Kandy, we head further into Sri Lanka’s hill country surrounded by tea plantations. Situated at 6,525 ft/1,990 m, Nuwara Eliya is one of the highest towns in the region. Today, we enjoy a sightseeing tour and visit Hakgala Gardens.

Day 9: Nuwara Eliya - Yala National Park

Morning leave for Uda-Walawe – Proceed on a Jeep Safari to visit the Uda-Walawe National Park. Uda Walawe is the most reliable place to see elephants in their wild habitat year round. Some 400-500 elephants live in the park and herds of up to 50 are commonly seen. As well as elephants, leopards live in the park (though you will be very lucky to spot one), toque monkeys, grey langur, spotted deer, wild pig and sambar. There are numerous bird species of course and Uda Walawe is particularly rich in raptor species, among them the white bellied sea eagle and the crested serpent eagle. On completion continue to Yala - Check in at Cinnamon Wild 4* (Jungle Chalet)

Day 10: Yala National Park

Breakfast at hotel – Morning proceed to visit the Yala National Park – On completion return back to the hotel – Afternoon at leisure – Evening proceed on another Safari to visit the Yala National Park specially to see Leopards.

Day 11: Yala National Park - Galle

Morning proceed to visit the Bundala Bird Sanctuary – On completion leave for Bentota, En route visit the Galle Dutch Fortress – The Galle fort was built first by the Portuguese, then modified by the Dutch during the 17th century. Even today, after 400 years of existence, it looks new and polished with reconstruction work done by Archaeological Department of Sri Lanka. Today Sri Lankan government and many Dutch people who still own some of the properties inside the fort are looking at making this one of the modern wonders of the world. On completion proceed to Galle – Check in at Cantaloupe Aqua 4* - (Aqua Zen Room) – Rest of the day at leisure – Overnight stay at the hotel.

Day 12: Galle - Kalutara

Morning with packed Breakfast proceed to visit Sinharaja rain Forest - Which is the jewel of the last remaining virgin rainforest crown in country is located in the wet zone of the country. The primeval Sinharaja covers 8900 hectares of breathtakingly beautiful, continuous forest. Beautiful Streams, springs, rivers, waterfalls, leopard, monkeys, butterflies and moths, rare trees, valuable shrubs and medicinal herbs are all found within its green canopy. A trek along the Sinharaja paths would provide nature enthusiast a never to be forgotten experience of sights and sounds and feelings. After Sinharaja – Leave for Kalutara – Check in at Tangerine Beach Hotel – Dinner and Overnight stay at the hotel.

Day 13: Kalutara

Day 14: Kalutara

At leisure. Dinner and overnight stays at the hotel

Day 15: Kalutara

Today we travel via the coast road to Colombo and onward departure transfer to the airport.
