Day 1: Colombo

Hello and welcome to Sri Lanka. You will be met on arrival at the Bandaranayke International airport & transfer to Colombo – Spend the rest of the day at leisure – Welcome Dinner at Hotel - Overnight Colombo - Ramada Colombo

Day 2: Colombo

Enjoy breakfast at the Hotel – Morning at leisure – this afternoon we proceed on sightseeing Tour of Colombo driving through the Commercial area of the “ Fort” so named, because both the Portuguese and Dutch had a Fort at this point. Drive passed the noisy Oriental bazaar “Pettah” –with its bargains, mosques & temples. Visit Hindu temple & drive pass Jumi-UL Alfar Jumma Mosque. Visit the the Wolvendaal Dutch Church, Hultsdorf Law courts, then onto the residential area of Cinnamon Gardens and the Independence Square and Bandaranayake Memorial International Conference Hall. And also visit Gangarama Temple - Overnight Colombo - Ramada Colombo

Day 3: Colombo - Giritale

Breakfast at Hotel – We leave for Giritale along the way visit the Dambulla Rock Temple the most impressive of Sri Lanka’s cave temples, with over 2000 square meters of painted walls. We then proceed to Giritale - This afternoon enjoy a tour of Polonnaruwa - Here you can see the ruins of the Royal Palace, the Gal Viharaya – see the 4 brilliant statues of the Buddha in the four Buddha postures carved out of rock. There are also monuments to the famous places of worship eg: the Shiva Temple, the Watadage, the Galpotha, and the remains of a former Temple of the Tooth Relic. On completion return to hotel - Overnight stay at the hotel - Deer Park Hotel

Day 4: Giritale - Trincomalee

After breakfast we continue to Sigiriya - Climb the 5th century Sigiriya rock fortress. The ‘Lion Rock’ is a citadel of unusual beauty rising 200 meters high. The rock was the stronghold of the fortified town. A moat, rampart, and the renowned water gardens surround the base of the rock. Visit the world-renowned frescoes of the ‘Heavenly Maidens’ of Sigiriya, which are in a sheltered pocket of the rock approached by a spiral stairway. When finished we leave for Trincomalee– Rest of the day at leisure on the beach – Overnight stay at the hotel. (All divining, snorkeling activities are to be booked and paid directly at the hotel) Jungle Beach Resort “Boutique Concept” – (Lagoon View Room)

Day 5: Trincomalee

Day 6: Trincomalee

Day 7: Trincomalee - Kandy

Breakfast at hotel – Today we leave for Kandy – Along the way we visit a Spice garden in Matale to see the different spices, which Sri Lanka is famous for. You will be introduced to different spices and shown how some of these spices are grown and processed. This evening visit the Temple of the Tooth Relic and afterwards enjoy a cultural show featuring traditional Sri Lankan dancing. Overnight Kandy - Mahaweli Reach Hotel

Day 8: Kandy

Breakfast at hotel – Today we visit the Elephant Orphanage in Pinnawela - This orphanage is the home for about 89 elephants. Accompany the elephants to the river see the elephants take their daily bath. Return back to Kandy via the Peradeniya Botanical Gardens. Originally this botanical garden was built as a pleasure garden. Tour the city of Kandy. Kandy was the last capital of the Sri Lankan kings. Much of the legends, traditions and folklore are still kept alive. Visit the Kandy town and Bazaar, the arts & crafts centre and a gem museum and a lapidary spend the rest of the day at leisure – Overnight Kandy - Mahaweli Reach Hotel

Day 9: Kandy - Nuwara Eliya

Breakfast at hotel – Leave for Nuwara Eliya – Along the way we visit a Tea plantation and a Tea factory, where the best tea in the world is produced and taste a cup for yourself. Learn all about the process of manufacturing tea, and how tea is graded. Afterwards, proceed to Nuwara Eliya. Sri Lanka’s highest mountain Pidurutalagala is located here. Nuwara Eliya is also the heart of Sri Lanka’s tea country. This evening enjoy a sightseeing tour of Nuwara Eliya including the Hakgala Gardens – Drive through "Little England” Overnight Nuwara Eliya - Grand Hotel

Day 10: Nuwara Eliya - Udawalawe N.P. and Embilipitiya

Breakfast at hotel – Leave for Uda-Walawe Afternoon proceed on a Jeep Safari to visit the Uda-Walawe National Park. Uda Walawe is the most reliable place to see elephants in their wild habitat year round. The variety in habitat makes for a rich variety of wildlife and game. As well as elephants, leopards live in the park (though you will be very lucky to spot one), toque monkeys, grey langur, and more. The Elephant Transit Home is also at Uda Walawe. A home for baby elephants separated from their herds in the wild right across Sri Lanka. Spend the rest of the day at leisure – Overnight Uda-Walawe - Centuria Inn

Day 11: Udawalawe N.P. and Embilipitiya - Bentota and Beruwala

Breakfast at Hotel – Leave for Bentota – En route visit a Turtle Hatchery in Kosgoda – Rest of the day at leisure – Overnight stay in Bentota - Bentota Beach Hotel

Day 12: Bentota and Beruwala

Leave for the airport to connect with the departure flight leaving on the 20th Aug’12.
