Postcards from Siberia & Beyond

Here's what some of our past Trans-Siberian Railway traveller's have to say about their holiday with us:

Hi Cheryln! I just wanted to also thank you as it was an amazing experience and we were impressed with every On The Go representative we met in Moscow, Ulaan Bataar and Beijing! They were all so helpful, friendly and also informative! This was my 2nd OTG tour and I would do another in a heartbeat :)

Just wanted to let you know that we had such a great adventure on the Trans Siberian trip. I'd like to thank you so much for all your help as it made the trip alot easier than it would've been if we'd had to find our own way. It was pretty full-on but on the go provided such great support and value for money.

Thanks again.

Hello Ryan

I write to let you know what a marvelous time we had on the trip that you arranged for us. Paul and I wish to thank you and all of the people who met and assisted us along the journey. The whole thing worked like clockwork, every time we arrived somewhere, we immediately found our names held on display, it was truly remarkable. It is not possible to pick out anyone person in particular for praise as everyone we met were friendly helpful and made our journey so very special. We must mention, however, Regina's assistance in Beijing, having only the one full day there, she arranged for a hire car, driver and guide, to take us to Tiananmen Square, the Forbidden city and a section of the Great Wall, along with stops for lunch, dinner and visits to a Jade factory, a and cloisonne factory, what a wonderful experience! Beijing and the Great Wall all in a day!

It goes without saying that we will be recommending 'On the Go Travel' to our friends, many, many thanks to you and all the the wonderful people who helped us along the way.

Best Wishes

Hi Sarah,

Just thought that I'd let you know that we've had a great trip - I've just made it down to Shanghai, ready to fly back on Monday.

The stop-overs in Moscow, in Irkutz for the Baikal trek and Ulaan Bataar were superb - I have to highlight the ger camp which was superb and in such a wonderful setting.
Your representatives in both places were excellent - as was Constantin in Moscow.
Thanks again.

Yeakaterinburg may be in the guide books as the "death capital" of Russia - the Romanovs, the mafia etc, but it has so much more to offer tourists.

Staying in a homestay will give you a warm welcome and an insiders view to the city. In winter you can go huskie sledding, skiing and snowmobiling. In summer there is trekking, horse riding and rafting. English speaking guides are available. The town is easy to get round with all the major sights in walking distance. Shopping, eating and drinking are well catered for - a definate stop not to be missed on any transiberian journey.

1. Yekaterinburg - is a very safe city
2. I would recommend a home stay - not hotel
3. Romanov tour- very interesting
4. 3 days in Yekaterinburg would be better - much more to see and do
5. drink lots of vodka!

My Transsiberian Big Rail Tripper was a superb experience. I'd always wanted to travel on the Trans-Siberian express and see a little of Russia, but I wasn't really sure what to expect.

The time spent on the train was such a unique experience - you basically have nothing to do, but since there is really nothing to do, you can just relax. I never felt bored - I just enjoyed the scenery, the company of other passengers (whether fellow tourists or locals) and did a lot of reading!

It was great staying at homestays as it was a great chance to interact with real Russian people and eat real Russian food. The homestays were always relatively close to the towns/cities so viewing the sites was never an issue, but it also allowed a glimpse of real Russian neighbourhoods.

Of course in Beijing and Moscow, and all the places in-between, there were so many things to see, culture to experience and incredible history to soak up.

In all I found the experience incredibly authentic and that's what I was really hoping for!

The OnTheGo transfers from train stations made things so much easier and the local guides that were organised were all superb.

This was my second OnTheGo tour (previous being a 2 week Egypt group tour a couple of years ago) and I will not hesitate to book another tour through them in the future.
