Please find below my notes on the World Class Slovenia and Croatia land tour and the Adriatic Cruise. All ratings are on a scale of one to five, with five being the highest. “Little comments” are meant in the kindest way for improvement in future tours. Please forward to the appropriate parties on my behalf.
All contact with the agents was superior in rating. Answers to my multitude of questions was always prompt. It was a long process but together we created a perfect tour. Also, thank you for your continued support as we toured both countries and sailed the Adriatic. Bravo!
Jelena: 5+ [A special thank you to Jelena for coming out to the airport in Dubrovnik at 5:00 a.m. to bid us farewell and to return lost travel notes retrieved from the coach! And thank you so much for the Croatian chocolates. How thoughtful!]
I am very pleased that we had manageable driving times each day. It was a very important aspect of the design of the itinerary.
Slovenia Land Itinerary: General: 5+
Everyone in the group fell in love with Slovenia and was super grateful that we had included it in the land tour. Tourist sites, hotels, meals, everything was great so I won’t write many individual comments! Bravo!
Having a late start on Day 6 was perfect. It allowed time for a swim in the heavenly pool and a leisurely breakfast on the beautiful terrace. The hotel was amazing. And the farewell dinner! All in all, a wonderful way to say “au revoir” to Slovenia.
Slovenian Guide: Janez 5+ He was great. He handled all “instances” with calmness and efficiency. Knowledge and guiding were fantastic. We couldn’t have asked for a better guide and escort. Bravo!
5+ Most meals were so fantastic that we could describe the tour as a culinary tour
Croatia Land Itinerary : 5. What a beautiful country! Such varied landscape—fertile fields, harsh rock, waterfalls, forests, miles of coastline...
We really enjoyed the drive from Split to Dubrovnik. It was fantastic to do the viewing by land and by sea. Also, when we returned to Split on the cruise, we felt right at home!
Hotel Milenji: I already mentioned that the Air Conditioning had not yet been turned on for the season. The rooms were hot; windows could not be opened due to noise. We were not told that there was a blind to block morning light! The hotel was, in general, a bit run down. Batteries were missing from the room safes. Breakfast on the terrace was nice. Choice of breakfast foods was “interesting”. Great location.
Ethno House, Plitvice: WOW! Everyone rated the park and waterfalls as a highlight! Staying in the park was the best decision, ever! Ethno House was all wood, new, beautiful. We had a “home cooked” style breakfast that was delicious. Dinners also excellent. 5+ [narrow access road! But Josko handled it, and many like it, with ease!]
Iadera Hotel outside of Zadar: Three swimming pools; beautiful grounds; beautiful rooms; incredible breakfast. However, the AC had not yet been turned on for the season...
Hotel Luxe: What a gem! A cute, purple, boutique hotel. AC worked beautifully so everyone could “cool off”! Perfect location!
Hotel Argosy: What a fantastic choice of hotel to end our tour. A gorgeous setting to drink in views of the Adriatic sea. Fantastic breakfast.
Little comments: How unfortunate that we had awful breakfast boxes for the early morning departure.
Note: Paying extra for sea view rooms was a bit of a rip off. Our view was “just a little slice” but the room was nice. Some clients were assigned nicer sea view rooms at no charge. Not the best thing for a group that “shares all”!
Local guides: 5
Personally I thought the tour of Zadar was too long and boring and the guide’s voice totally monotone. The local guides on the entire tour were very good, all in all.
Tour Escort: 5
Ivana was such a contrast to Janez that it took a bit of adjustment to her style and personality. Personally, I thought she did a very good job. Everything I asked her to check or double check for me, she did so. Greatly appreciated. Also, she was very accommodating. Hearing her personal stories made the history of Croatia more alive, more intense. Just on a few occasions we needed a bit more information on time lines—for example, when we needed to catch the boat in Plitvice park. The Super Six were very pleased with the Dubrovnik tour that Ivana did with them. Bravo!'..............
I sincerely hope that the tour we did will be booked by other clients. It is truly amazing! Thanks again to everyone for her (or his) part in the process. I am a little sad that “we have now been there, done that and bought the t-shirt!”
Group Member Comment [sums things up quite nicely!]:
I wanted to let you know how much I enjoyed the trip to Slovenia and Croatia.
The tour was amazing! It was so well organized with just the right mix of culture, history, and experiences. And, I am so fortunate to have traveled with a truly wonderful group of people.
Dasha was an amazing tour guide who was so nice and knowledgable about the local history and culture. As this was my first ever guided tour experience, she made it so enjoyable that I would definitely do it again. The tour itself was very well organised despite a couple of setbacks. Dasha was also very helpful whenever we had any questions and always ensured that everyone on the tour was getting the most out of their experience in Russia.”
Aziz Benyahia was exceptional. At all times he was professional, helpful, attending to requests from group members and had great knowledge of Morocco. He took great pride and care in showing us all the Moroccan lifestyle. Thank you.”
