Discover Ottoman Istanbul, ANZAC Cove and the many battlefields and memorials of the Gallipoli Region on an exciting 7 day trip to Turkey. This tour is operated by Legacy London in conjunction with On The Go Tours and is available to Members of Legacy all over the world or members of the general public who want a tour of Turkey with a lot more in depth look at the Gallipoli campaign.

Day 1: Istanbul
Welcome to Turkey and the start of a memorable holiday with Legacy. Today offers free time for you to explore the exciting city - that straddles both Europe and Asia! This evening a group welcome meeting is held. Overnight - Istanbul

Istanbul. This morning we enjoy a guided tour of Istanbul's old city. Our tour includes visits to the stunning Blue Mosque famed for it’s blue Iznik tiles and unique 6 minarets, the ruinous Hippodrome – now a small park of sorts and once scene of chariot races and political activities in Byzantine times, Hagia Sofia Museum - constructed as a Basilica in the 6th century by Emperor Justinian and Topkapi Palace. The afternoon offers free time. Consider wandering through the Egyptian Spice market or the legendary, if cavernous Grand Bazaar - boasting some 4000 shops under one immense roof. Day 3: Gallipoli
Istanbul – Gallipoli. Early this morning, we travel to the WW1 battlefields of Gallipoli. Here, we’ll embark upon a guided tour of the region, once the site of fierce fighting and today almost hauntingly beautiful, with its wooded landscape dotted with understated memorials to the war dead. Our guided tour of the region will take in sights such as ANZAC Cove, Lone Pine Australian War Memorial and cemetery, Chunuk Blair New Zealand War Memorial and cemetery, the modest ANZAC Museum, the Nek, Johnston’s Jolly and the many fortified trenches still clearly visible amongst the scrub after all these years.

Crossing the Dardenelles by ferry, offering panoramic views of the entire Gallipoli Peninsular, we proceed to our hotel for a little rest and relaxation. Overnight - Gallipoli region (B, L, D)
ANZAC Cove in Gallipoli
Returning to the Gallipoli Peninsular we tour the British landing sites – X beach, Seddul Bair, W beach - the site of the Lancashire Landing, V Beach and V Beach Cemetery. We’ll also tour Krithia Vineyard, its war museum and nearby Redoubt Cemetery. Overnight - Gallipoli region (B, L, D)

Discover the small fishing village of Kilitbahir and its impressive fort built in 1453 by Mehmet II the Conqueror. The fort was also of strategic importance for many of the naval battles that took place here in the Dardanelles during the Gallipoli campaign Overnight - Gallipoli region (B, L, D)
Gallipoli – Troy - Istanbul. This morning we enjoy a guided tour of Troy! If you’ve seen the movie – ‘Troy’ or read the poet Homer’s – ‘The Iliad’ you’ll be familiar with Paris – Prince of Troy, his prized Helen and Hector – Prince of Troy on the Trojan side and Agamemnon and Achilles (he of the heel) on the Aechaean (Greek) side. The legend of the lost city of Troy and Homer’s poetry was bought alive by it’s rediscovery in 1863. Subsequent excavations revealed 9 ancient cities, one on top of the other, dating back to 3000 BC! We enjoy a tour of the ruins and bear witness to a replica of the stoic Trojan wooden horse that, as the story goes, was filled to the gunnels with Aechaean soldiers who helped sack Troy. After we drive on to Istanbul arriving late in the evening. Overnight - Istanbul (B, D)

Day 7: Istanbul
Spend the morning at leisure further sightseeing or enjoying the hotel facilities. Say goodbye to new found friends before our included shuttle departure transfer to Ataturk International Airport (11am and 1:30pm).

Alternatively, you could choose to extend your stay by purchasing an additional nights hotel accommodation so as to explore Istanbul further. (B)
