Welcome to magnificent Turkey and the start of a truly epic adventure. Upon arrival you will be met by one of our friendly representatives and transferred to your start hotel. Spend the rest of the day at leisure.
This morning you set off for a city tour of the old part of Istanbul, once known as the great city of Constantinople. The highlights of the bygone splendour of the city that you will see today will be the Topkapi Palace, St. Sophia and the Blue Mosque. Of course no tour of Istanbul is complete without a visit to the Grand Bazaar. The evening is at your leisure, be sure to check out the amazing nightlife on offer!
After breakfast we will drive to Eminonu to visit the aromatic Spice Bazaar, where the smells of cinnamon, cloves and thyme, rise from hundreds of colourful muslin bags at every store-front. This is followed by a Cruise through the Bosphorus waterway that separates two continents Europe and Asia. Throughout the journey you can take photographs of marble palaces, ancient wooden villas of Ottoman architecture as well as modern residential and luxurious apartments.
Today enjoy a free day to explore at your leisure. We would highly recommend you to unwind by indulging in a traditional Turkish Hammam (sauna / bath) called Cagaloglu Hamami which was constructed in 1741 here you can bathe as the Ottoman Sultans once did!
After breakfast your driver will take you to the airport for the flight to Ankara. Arriving here, your local guide will meet you and take you on a visit of Mausoleum of Ataturk and its Museum. Interesting to know that this is the burial place of the national hero who founded modern Republic of Turkey! When ready we then transfer you to the hotel for the evening.
Today sit back and enjoy the drive to Cappadocia. Along the way you will pass the spectacular scenery of the Salt Lake. Here, stops can be made for photos and a stretch of your legs. Arriving into Cappadocia, check into your hotel.
Morning you are up early to take to the sky in a Hot Air Balloon to see the wonderful natural landscape. Today your guided tour of the region includes the World Heritage Listed Goreme Valley to see stunning examples of rock-cut Byzantine churches and chapels and then visit Uchisar Castle. Stopping on the outskirts of Goreme Village we see Pigeon Valley where century’s old pigeon houses are carved into the surrounding cliffs. After we continue to Avanos famed for its pottery, then Pasabaglar where the biggest mushroom shaped fairy chimneys exist, the area is named monks valley because of the nearby chapel of Saint Simon.
After breakfast we will visit Kaymakli which is the biggest underground city where Christians lived in fear and faith. We continue to Narligol to see the Crater lake situated between the underground city and Ihlara valley. We then enjoy a walk in Ihlara valley to visit the cave churches. We conclude the days tour with a visit to the village of village Belisirma which is situated in a valley with magnificent landscape not only this, but also wonderful mosques and churches. A visit here provides a in-depth understanding of Anatolian history, religion, culture, art, and architecture.
Today we have an early departure for Antala, en-route you will visit the city of Konya which is a place of pilgrimage for Muslim’s the world over. Konya was the adopted home place of Mevlana (Our Master), a Sufic mystic famous for being the founder of the whirling dervish sect and through his writings helped reshape Islamic thought and played a major part in the modifying of popular Islamic culture in Turkey. In Konya you will visit the Mausoleum of Mevlana before continuing on to your hotel in Antalya.
After breakfast your guide will take you on a drive to Perge. Here, enjoy a walk through the Roman Gate and down the Colonnaded Avenue past the Agora, Baths, Hippodrome and Aqueduct terminating at the Nymphaeum or great fountain. Then we continue on to the ancient city of Aspendos. Here you will visit the famous 2nd century Roman Amphitheatre still in use for cultural events today. Or day concludes with our visit to the Archaeological Museum in Antalya, exhibiting marble sculptures and many other artefacts of the region.
Leaving Antalya in our wake we drive after Breakfast to the famous Lycian tombs at Myraand and also visit the Church of St. Nicholas (Santa Claus). This is followed by a boat ride to Kekova Island to see the mystical underwater ruins. We then drop you off at your hotel in Kas.
Enjoy a day of leisure! I am sure you will need a full day of simply relaxing on the beach and Kas is perfect for such day.
When ready today you will be driven to Pamukkale. Arriving here the remainder of your day is at leisure.
After breakfast take a visit to the Ancient Hierapolis with its magnificent Necropolis graveyard. The Ancient Hierapolis has a good collection of ancient Roman ruins, the Temple of Apollo and the Plutonium, dating back to third century BC although many of the current ruins are built upon ruins dating back to the second century AD, although some of these earlier ruins are still visible such as the Roman theatre. We then enjoy time to explore the spectacular site of the Lime stone cascades before driving onto your hotel in Kusadasi.
Pick‐up from your hotel for a full day tour of Ephesus. Here, you will explore some of the best preserved theatres, fountains and buildings in the world. After the tour, we will drive back to our hotel in Kusudasi.
An early departure for Bergama this morning to visit the Acropolis. With ancient ruins from the Altar of Zeus built by Eumenes II in honour of his father’s victory over the Gauls, to the third-century Temple of Athena and most famously the library which gave birth to the modern book. We then drive to Canakkale for your overnight stay.
Today we return to Istanbul for your final night in Istanbul. Evening at leisure.
Bid a fond farewell to this incredible country! We will transfer you to the airport in time for your flight home.
