This morning depart on a full day city tour, visit magnificent St. Sophia's Basilica built originally by Constantine the Great. We continue our visits with the fascinating and impressive Blue Mosque, famous for its six minarets, its beautiful blue Iznik tiles, unique architecture and marble latticework. Then visit the Byzantine Hippodrome where chariot races and competitive athletic events took place. Finally we visit the famous vast and bustling Grand Bazaar, where we can leave you to shop or drop you back at your hotel.
This morning we fly to Sinop on the Black Sea coast. Arriving here, meet our guide and then head out to admire the breathtaking views offered from Sinop Castle and visit the beautiful Sinop Fjords, which are the only unique formation of this kind in Turkey. It’s an early morning departure to Trabzon along the beautiful Black Sea coast. Today visit the spectacular 1,600 year-old Sumela Monastery, perched dramatically on a steep cliff-face commanding excellent views of the surrounding forests. (OVERNIGHT NOVOTEL HOTEL)
This morning we head to the airport in Trabzon and catch a flight inland to Cappadocia either Kayseri or Nevsehir depends on schedules (Via Istanbul) Arriving here, meet our local team who will take you onto your hotel.
Today you’ll explore the incredible lunar-like landscape and underground troglodyte villages of Cappadocia including some time spent at the Goreme Open Air Museum. The Museum is famed for its churches that were carved from the soft volcanic stone by Christian monks in 1000-1200AD.
Today we drive onward to Pamukkale via the 13th century Seljukian masterpiece of Sultanhan Caravanserai and Konya. In Konya visit the 13th century Mevlana Museum; the original lodge of the Mevlevi Whirling Dervishes, a mystical Sufi Muslim group. It contains the tomb of Mevlana, a leading philosopher and mystic of Islam, which remains an important place of pilgrimage. Afterwards continue your journey onward to Pamukkale.
After breakfast visit the incredible white calcium terraces of Pamukkale and ancient Hierapolis, with its Necropolis graveyard of over 1200 graves. The Temple of Apollo, the Plutonium, dating back to third century BC and the sacred pool are some of the highlights of Hierapolis. The shallow thermal waters ripple over a wonderful scattering of ancient roman ruins that lie beneath.
This morning we drive to the gorgeous coastal town of Antalya. Arriving here, check into your hotel and relax for the remainder of the day.
