Welcome to Istanbul and the start of your cultural adventure through the 'Land of the Sultans'. You will be met upon arrival at the airport by one of our representatives and transferred to your hotel. The remainder of today is at your leisure to explore. (DAY 1 -- GROUP TOUR GALLIPOLI TROY MINI STAY)
(DAY 2 -- GROUP TOUR GALLIPOLI TROY MINI STAY) This morning, we drive to the Gallipoli Peninsular. Here we explore the battlefields and learn about the history of the men who came to be known as the ANZACs on our guided tour of the area.
(DAY 3 -- GROUP TOUR GALLIPOLI TROY MINI STAY) Early this morning we continue to Troy. If you’ve seen the movie - ‘Troy’ based on poet Homer’s ‘The Iliad’ you’ll be familiar with Paris, his prized Helen and Hector on the Trojan side and Agamemnon and Achilles on the Aechaean (Greek) side. The legend of the lost city of Troy and Homer’s poetry was brought alive by it’s rediscovery in 1863. Subsequent excavations revealed 9 ancient cities, one on top of the other, dating back to 3000BC! We enjoy a tour of the ruins and see a replica of the Trojan wooden horse that helped sack Troy. The tour of Troy finishes in late morning and the rest of the day is spent at leisure in Cannakale until 6pm when you are transferred back to Istanbul with a late evening arrival.
With fellow tourists this morning head out and explore the city on a full day tour of the magnificent city of Istanbul. Explore Topkapi Palace, Hagia Sofia, the Blue Mosque and the Roman Hippodrome; once home to chariot races, gladiatorial battles and public executions, before trying your hand at a spot of haggling in the Grand Bazaar.
This morning your private arrangements begin meet your guide and driver for the journey to Bursa. Depart for Bursa, a old city at the foot of Mount Uludag (Olympus), and the first seat of the Ottomans. Along the way we stop by the ruins of St. Sophia, in Nicaea. It was here that the first Ecumenical Council was held in 325 AD. We drive round Iznik lake to Bursa where we visit the ornate Mausoleum of Sultan Orham and the Orhan Camii, the first ottoman mosque which was erected in 1413.
Enjoy a day with your guide and driver exploring every nook and crannie Bursa has to offer, including amongst other things the Inebey Library this is the 3rd biggest manuscript library of Turkey with its 8773 manuscript books.
Today you will be driven back to Istanbul say goodbye to your guide and driver.
