Welcome to Turkey! Arrive Istanbul and group transfer to hotel in Sultanahmet. Remainder of the day at leisure.
Today, we journey to enjoy a visit to battle-scarred Gallipoli. Walk in the footsteps of the ANZAC’s with visits to ANZAC Cove, Lone Pine Australian Memorial, Chunuk Bair New Zealand Memorial, Johnston’s Jolly, the trenches and Kabatepe - the modest ANZAC museum.
This morning rise early to experience Anzac Cove at dawn. We then continue on and step back in time as we visit the legendary Roman ruins of Pergamum and Troy - inspiration for Homer's Illiad and much more recently the movie Troy.
We explore ancient Ephesus. Exemplifying the finesse of Roman urban life, Ephesus boasts carefully restored elements including a Great Theatre, Curetes Way, the Temple of Serapis and the Library of Celsus. Stop by the ancient public toilets and public brothel! Afterward, we stop at a local leather manufacturer.
Exploring the Roman Hierapolis and the cascading calcium mineral pools of Pamukkale perhaps opt for a dip in the thermal hot springs.
Today we continue to the coastal town of Antalya for overnight stay. Free time.
We tour Konya and the Mevlana monastery before heading north east to Cappadocia. We stop en route at an ancient caravanserai and later take a short walk through the beautiful Ihlara Valley.
In the morning you have an optional ballon tour (payable locally - please advise your guide upon arrival). We explore the stunning Goreme Valley, fairy chimneys, amazing troglodyte villages, Uchisar Castle and Derinkuyu underground city. Tonight we enjoy our Whirling Dervish cultural show with dinner.
Today you will be transferred to the airport for your flight departing 14:10 to Istanbul. Upon arrival here at 15:40 we will transfer you to your hotel. Rest of the day free.
Enjoy a tour of old Istanbul. The only city to span two continents sits on the Bosphorus. Its illustrious past leaves a rich legacy of churches, mosques, palaces and museums, complemented by the behemoth Grand Bazaar and colourful street life. We visit The Blue Mosque, The Hagia Sofia, Topkapi Palace and the Underground Cistern.
After breakfast tour ends and hotel check out at noon. Included onward group departure transfer to the airport. We hope you had a wonderful holiday in Turkey!
