Day 1: Istanbul
Welcome to Turkey and the start of your holiday. Included arrival transfer to our accommodation. Spend the afternoon at leisure or head out to explore the city. Istanbul is easy to get around on foot and there are plenty of restaurants and cafes dotted about the city.
Day 2: Istanbul
Enjoy a tour of the Old City from where the Byzantine and Ottoman Empires were ruled. We’ll visit the stunning Blue Mosque famed for it’s blue Iznik tiles, Hippodrome, Hagia Sofia - constructed as a Basilica in the 6th century by Emperor Justinian and Topkapi Palace.
Day 3: Istanbul
We visit the Spice Bazaar, built in 1664 and Spices, dried fruits, cheeses, sausages, jams, nuts and seeds, lokum (Turkish Delight) and other edibles fill most of the shops. Then we will continue to Cooking Course. You will prepare a five-course meal of traditional dishes. Recipes are provided for you to keep and the group enjoys a delicious meal of their own creation in the rooftop restaurant. The class size, ranging from 4 to 10. After the cooking course you will be transferred to Cihangir where you can find bookstores and hip bars. Then you will continue to Litera Bar on top of the Goethe Institute with extraordinary views of the old city. (Drinks in Litera are not included).
Day 4: Istanbul - Cappadocia
Transfer to airport for flight to Cappodocia, where you will be met and transferred to your accommodation. Overnight Tafoni Houses.
Day 5: Cappadocia
A guided tour of the region includes the World Heritage Listed Goreme Valley to see stunning examples of rock-cut Byzantine churches and chapels, Kaymaki Underground City and Uchisar Castle. Stopping on the outskirts of Goreme Village to see Pigeon Valley where century’s old pigeon houses are carved into the surrounding cliffs, the pigeon droppings that litter the area have been used as fertilizer on crops for generations. Here you will also have the opportunity to visit an Onyx shop, specialising in historic jewellery designs unique to Turkey and using local materials and craftsmen. For those not interested in shopping spend a little time relaxing and grab a drink from the local cafe. Overnight Tafoni Houses.
Day 6: Cappadocia - Istanbul
Transfer to airport for flight to Istanbul, where you will be met and transferred to accommodation.
