Day 1: Istanbul

Friday 21st April 2012. Welcome to Turkey and the start of your awesome ANZAC experience! You will be transferred to your hotel in Istanbul, a city that straddles both Europe and Asia! Tonight you will have a welcome dinner at a nice restaurant in the old city. Overnight - Istanbul.

Day 2: Istanbul

This morning we enjoy a relaxing 2 hour cruise along the Bosphorus ‐ the strait that divides European from Asian Istanbul. Afterward we have a city tour taking in the Hippodrome area, the stunning Blue Mosque, Hagia Sofia, Topkapi Palace and the underground cistern. This afternoon offers free time to do as you please, maybe hone your bargaining skills at the Egyptian Spice market or famed Grand Bazaar – one of the largest covered markets in the world, boasting more than 4000 stores.

Day 3: Istanbul - Ayvalik

Istanbul - Gallipoli An early departure to the WW1 battlefields on Gallipoli Peninsular. This afternoon, enjoy a guided tour of the evocative war memorials that dot the region, for example; Lone Pine, Chunuk Bair, Johnston’s Jolly, the trenches and Kabatepe - the modest ANZAC museum. After a detailed visit drive to our hotel in Ayvalik for overnight. Dinner will be at the hotel. Overnight Ayvalik

Day 4: Ayvalik - Canakkale

Depart for Cape Helles at noon. With a focus on the landings of 25th April 1915, visit the British sector where the ‘River Clyde’ landed the men on V Beach. Later visit the Lancashire Landing, where the First Lancashire Fusiliers won six VCs. This visit requires some walking as the roads to the beach are not accessible by vehicle. At X Beach see the landing area of the 2nd Royal Fusiliers off HMS Implacable. After a picnic lunch, you will visit the Helles Memorial, the Vineyard and the war museum in Krithia. Early this evening, we’ll relax at our exclusive ANZAC Eve Turkish BBQ before later taking our places amongst the many at the Dawn Service site for the atmosphere charged ANZAC Eve vigil. Overnight - ANZAC Cove

Day 5: Canakkale - Ayvalik

First light heralds a poignant bugle call and commencement of the Dawn Service. After the service and armed with your maps, you’ve a chance to independently explore many of the trenches and memorial sites as you head up to Lone Pine or Chunuk Bair for the Australian or New Zealand National services. We return back to our hotel in Ayvalik for overnight stay. Dinner will be at the hotel. Overnight - Ayvalik

Day 6: Ayvalik - Kusadasi

After breakfast at the hotel drive to Kusadasi, crossing the legendary mountain Ida where you will continue to Pergamum an ancient Greek city in Aeolis. Here you will take the cable car up the steep incline to visit this time worn monument and learn of its history. Spend some time exploring the Acropolis and ancient medical centre Asklepion. Here you can also view one of the steepest ancient amphitheatres in the world. Overnight - Kusadasi.

Day 7: Kusadasi - Pamukkale

Enjoy a morning visit to the Ancient City of Ephesus where you will explore some of the best preserved theatres, fountains and buildings in the world. A definite must while in Turkey. Then drive to Pamukkale and visit the travertines and the ancient city of Hierapolis which has the biggest Nekropol with 1200 gravestones in Anatolia. The sacred pool also is one of the highlights of the site. Overnight Pamukkale.

Day 8: Pamukkale - Istanbul

Today we leave Pamukkale and drive straight back to Istanbul and arrive in the late afternoon. Overnight Istanbul.

Day 9: Istanbul

Sadly your time with us has come to an end as you are transferred to the airport in time for your departure flight to your onward destination.
