Day 1: Istanbul

Welcome to Istanbul and the start of your eye opening journey through the Land of the Sultans! You will be met upon arrival at the airport by one of our friendly representatives and transferred to your hotel.

Day 2: Istanbul - Bursa

This morning you will be dropped off for your cruise on the Bosphorus Strait which links the Sea of Marmara with the Black Sea. This is one of the world’s busiest waterways with stately cargo-ships plying their way up the main channel, while ferries constantly dash across their path to link the villages on the European and Asian sides of the water. Cruise beneath the spectacular modern suspension bridges, past elegant palaces (built in the 18th and 19th centuries by Turkish nobility) and picturesque fishing villages where life seems unchanged since ancient times. When complete you will be collected and driven to your hotel in Bursa.

Day 3: Bursa - Ankara

This morning enjoy your visit of the Green Mosque and Mausoleum complex and Grand Mosque in Bursa before driving to the charming Cumalikizik Village with its traditional wooden houses and very narrow cobblestone streets. Move on to Gordion, where Alexander the Great cut the famous Gordion Knot and then we finish the drive onto the capital of Ankara.

Day 4: Ankara - Cappadocia

Today we visit the mausoleum and Hittite museum of Kemal Ataturk, one of Turkey’s most revered leaders, famous for his progressive reform of Turkish society and his incredible strategic command during World War I, thwarting the Allied attempts at invading Turkey. You will then enjoy a picturesque journey through the Lakeland before arriving in Cappadocia.

Day 5: Cappadocia

Enjoy a full day with our expert guide exploring this unique region. We will visit Göreme’s rock-carved churches and see ancient frescoes in the open-air museum. Visit the volcanic landscapes and mushroom shaped ‘fairy-chimneys’ of the Pasabag Valley, the underground city of Kaymakli and see the cone of Uchisar.

Day 6: Cappadocia - Konya

Today we drive onward to the 13th century Seljukian masterpiece of Sultanhan Caravanserai and Konya. In Konya visit the 13th century Mevlana Museum; the original lodge of the Mevlevi Whirling Dervishes, a mystical Sufi Muslim group and see the Karatay Medrese and Ince Minaret.

Day 7: Konya - Antalya

Today we will descend the Taurus mountains and drive to Aspendos to visit what is considered the best preserved Roman Theatre anywhere in the world. We then continue to the Hellenistic or Roman city of Perge to visit the extensive ruins, including the great Theatre, the Stadium, and the gate-towers leading into a street where ancient chariot ruts can still be seen. Arriving into Antalya enjoy time to relax and then as night falls, enjoy a walking tour of Antalya’s Old Town.

Day 8: Antalya

Enjoy a lazy day on the beach or exploring at your leisure.

Day 9: Antalya - Pamukkale

After breakfast visit the incredible white calcium terraces of Pamukkale and ancient Hierapolis, with its Necropolis graveyard of over 1200 graves. The Temple of Apollo, the Plutonium, dating back to third century BC and the sacred pool are some of the highlights of Hierapolis. The shallow thermal waters ripple over a wonderful scattering of ancient roman ruins that lie beneath.

Day 10: Pamukkale - Kusadasi

After a relaxing breakfast we set off to visit the Temple of Aphrodite at amazing Aphrodisias, here you are sure to relish seeing the collection of sculptural treasures, Graeco-Roman statues and ceramics. We thereafter drive to your hotel in Kusadasi for some downtime in the afternoon cool air.

Day 11: Kusadasi - Izmir

This morning you will drive to the ancient and magnificent city of Ephesus, one of the largest and most well preserved ancient cities in the Mediterranean, with Roman theatres, fountains, buildings, churches and temples. We also visit the House of the Virgin Mary, situated above the ruins, before continuing to the Selçuk archeological museum, where many artefacts from Ephesus are displayed. Conclude the day thereafter, with the short drive to Izmir.

Day 12: Izmir - Canakkale

This morning, departing early we visit Bergama, the site of the ancient city of Pergamum to see the famed Altar of Zeus. Pergamum, one of Turkey’s oldest civilised settlements, inhabited since prehistoric times through to Ionic, Roman and Byzantine civilizations. You will have the chance to visit the ancient acropolis situated on top of a steep hill and the aforementioned Altar of Zeus. We continue to Troy, the ancient city made famous by Homer’s Odyssey and the fable of Helen, Achilles and the Trojan horse. Afterwards drive on to Canakkale.

Day 13: Canakkale - Istanbul

After breakfast cross the Dardanelles to visit the evocative battlefields of Gallipoli. In World War 1 the Allies tried in vain to capture Turkey in order to better supply troops in Europe via access to the Black Sea and also open up better supply routes to Russia. It was on the beaches of the Gallipoli peninsula where the Allies landed and over 11,000 Anzacs lost their lives. Visit key sites such as Anzac Cove, Lone Pine, Chunuk Bair, The Nek and other Turkish and Allied trenches. Later travel back to Istanbul.

Day 14: Istanbul

After breakfast enjoy a full day tour of the magnificent city of Istanbul. Explore Topkapi Palace, Hagia Sofia, the Blue Mosque and the Roman Hippodrome; once home to chariot races, gladiatorial battles and public executions, before trying your hand at a spot of haggling in the Grand Bazaar.

Day 15: Istanbul

Sadly your journey through the Land of the Sultans has come to an end, we will be sure to transfer you to the airport in time for your flight home.
